  1. Keyboard layouts on World First Review of Dell's 12.1in Netbook · · Score: 1

Whats up with the obscure keyboards lately (those Dell laptops being an example)? Recently I find it difficult to find a laptop or keyboard with the keys placed on it the way i've used to. Often keys like the ones for <|> or underscore (estonian layout) might be absent or misplaced in some weird location (e.g. on top of or right of the return key). I once even had to buy a new keyboard, because my shell uses <, | and > for redirection.

Can anybody shed some light on this issue? Thanks.

AltGr + Plus [the key right of number 0] on Estonian layout also. This is so discriminatory! :P

We should use a character present on most keyboard layouts. I propose the use of the Space-key for this purpose.

What I wanted to get to was:

In case brute force decryption attacks, which do not disrupt external systems, are illegal:
    1. Encrypting and decrypting are algorithms for encoding and decoding which use an external variable, a key
    2. A brute force decryption attack is a decoding algorithm with no key, which produces the same result as the decryption algorithm with a key.
    3. Therefore, applying certain data decoding algorithms is illegal.
    4. Therefore, some forms of transferring data from one format to another is illegal.

So in case a genius breaks the CSS encryption in his head by just reading a binary DVD data stream from a computer monitor, he had commited an illegal act.

I guess my argument is heading into the fuzzy domain of thought crimes...

It's not much different by nature thou - you take what you're not allowed to take (by the one owning the copyright), in many cases likely causing what's called a loss of profit in economics (if i translated it correctly).

Basically, if you haven't payed for it, you should do without! I mean, how hard can it be NOT to download a movie via bittorrent? What life-threatening consequences could it have to justify piracy?

If it weren't for the few legal uses, P2P were almost a synonym for Piracy 2 People: everyone involved supports new participants.

This is how I feel about it.

It's true that if the author of a work does not want us to access that work without proper permission (e.g. without paying for it), it were only just of us to respect that.

And nothing can change that fact that piracy is and will remain stealing! I don't think there is any real justification for it.

You anonymous coward! Need I remind you the soviets had already conquered Estonia by the time the nazis came? Therefore the nazis were at first seen by many as someone to liberate us from the soviet rule which had oppressed us by then already. Estonians just wanted to have their free country, not to be under russian influence. Nazism as an ideology was not supported! Estonians remember the crimes of nazis in Estonia, but the crimes soviet russia did in Estonia during and after the war are by far greater in number and extent.

Estonia commemorates all estonians that fought for the freedom of Estonia. We fought alongside germany when the soviets conquered us, and we fought alongside russia when nazis conquered us. We supported neither ideology, all we ever wanted is a free country and peace. Both nazis and soviets tried to enslave us, russia succeeded for a short while. As far as most estonians are concerned the nazis and the soviets were not much different. Both were ruthless tyrants towards Estonia, "pigs" if you like. Russia still appears to be a tyrant nation as indicated by its foreign policies.

Russia, for God's sake, leave us be! We're no match for your military - please stop bullying us.

Shouldn't Estonia defend itself? Should we instead bow to the hostile soviets looking to swallow us?

I'd say its not Estonia playing up, but Russia, whose people still worship the old Soviet Nation. Can you believe they actually believe the soviets "liberated" Estonia in World War II? But estonians still very well remember the mass deportations and silent genocide conducted by the KGB.

As for present-day Russia - they're cocky again and are looking to rule over neighbouring nations. The false information they're planting into the minds of their citizens clearly indicates they are hostile toward other nations. It's definately a global threat!
