Much to the dismay of Slashdot, there are many good cops out there. Unfortunately, like anything else, there are plenty of bad ones as well. As is life... That being said, in this case, the only ones threatening the integrity of the police, are the police.
So this got me thinking... Start a FB Profile, which is to assume you are taking ownership of your profile (and subsequently personal info). The delete your FB, and request they remove your profile and information from their servers.
99% sure this won't work, but 1% of me had the idea.
I'll admit that I have played this game since inception, in 2004. That being said, there were dungeons that were damn near impossible to complete, without 40 able minded players. That was a stretch, and it felt like a real accomplishment. That's because it was an accomplishment... it took hard work, and often times took great critical thinking.
The game today has become a cash cow for Blizzard, and their policies show that. From faction changes, to PvE/PvP trasfers, to 10/25 man steamroll dungeons, to now monetizing (and cashing in on) something they deemed a violation of the ToS... a week prior. They have taken the hard work, and dedication required, and replaced it with money bought goods.
This is an honest question here, but are they creating a type of stock exchange in WoW?
I'd like to see what carriers would be getting, vs what we will continue to pay. Fee hikes every year leaves me bouncing between two carriers that I hate, just because they're the only two in town.
Having bought a home recently, and having seen my mortgage sold to Skank of Ameriwhore, I can offer the following:
In MA, there is a separate document you must sign, when applying for a mortgage, as well as closing on your home. This document says that the lender you are going through, has the right to do so. If you choose not to sign it, you can pretty much kiss your mortgage goodbye. It is not an uninformed decision, and legally has to be explained to you.
Again, you are pretty much screwed into it, so there's a reasonable gripe...
At that distance, what would the estimated temp be in space? More for my own curiosity, but the tech needed to survive a constant furnace/radiation bomb is also very cool.
Not wishing to add to this fire here, but I think the parent has a valid point. 4x closer, would have me assume the distance x4, is the distance of our planet, relative to the sun... in so many words.
Instead of shielding our kids from all the world's baddies... expose them. Teach them how to cope. Back before the days of "cyber" bullying, we had... wait for it... regular bullying. We taught our kids how to stand up for themselves.
Instead of protecting the children, why not focus on educating the parents on preparing their kids for real life?
What's next, curtailing my right to flip you off in traffic? That'll go over great in Boston...
I had a professor explain this to me as the "shoes in China" theory. Basically, it says that you can make any assumptions you want, but unless they're based on cold hard facts, and 100% true, you're just FOS. If I sell shoes in china, I could *in theory* be rich off of a 1/1000 success rate. It may never happen, but it looks like an easy goal on paper...
If you just get a Google voice number, and chain it to your cell (for those not wearing a tinfoil hat as thick as a lead x-ray vest) the caller is asked to state their name. You then can answer, screen who it is, and decide whether to accept or deny. Deny shoots them to VM. Added bonus: free texts if you have a data plan.
The page also *says* that they will delete the image, once your identity has been verified. Until there is a way to remotely verify that you are who you say you are, and that I am not you, and vice versa... that's what they're working with.
What sort of proof would you want that the person requesting YOUR information is anybody but you? It is a serious question, because I am looking for a fool-proof, better method.
You're worried about your "private" information, yet are irritated that you must prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that you are, indeed, you.
Looking around, it turns out that there are many places that either already have some people starting occupations (no not jobs), or are planning some to add to Wall St. A list of hashtags are popping up, and at least one protest is being planned in Boston. It looks like this could be something gaining some steam... whether or not it continues to the point of influence is another question.
I just shot an email over to Toyota, to see what, if any, policies they have in place similar to that of OnStar. Their service, Entune, is available in almost all of their vehicles, from Toyota to Lexus, so I figured it may be applicable/helpful.
I'm sure that these will be the first to be quickly brought down on one strike. Libraries, universities, book stores... basically every public place that provides "free WiFi" will be cut off.
Americans are too timid because for the following reasons: bullying is underage terrorism, fighting is bad, hug each other, don't say hurtful things, etc, etc, etc.
Too many parents teaching their kids to be pacifists, and we literally baby children like they're babies. When most of us were kids, if someone picked on us, we fought, and to the victor went the spoils. That's it. Today, parents and lawyers do all the fighting, so 95% of America doesn't know how to stand up for itself. 4/5% became cops or military, and 1% isn't a great number to have on your side.
This has to be done very delicately. Pick the wrong fight, or from the wrong angle, and we all end up with mandatory keyloggers built into every OS. It is as much a psychological puzzle as a moral fight.
I haven't seen this mentioned yet, so forgive me if it has been... I just see this as a way to extort more fees for pre-configured machines. Say you order something from Dell, IBM, whatever... $20 fee to include a piece of paper with your PKI key, so you can install your own OS. This not only protects Microsoft, but has a potential to pad the margin for manufacturers, all while sticking it to the consumer.
If that is found to be the case, the judge should then be asked to step down, on bias grounds. The same also goes for if he/she has a Nokia product. Hope he/she uses a Droid and Xoom?
Look up the value of each of these on the market. Not the (RI/MP)AA market, but the real, "I would like to give you paper for goods" market. For things like the ROM's, consider what each ROM costs, if you were to buy the game, and to play it, you need the console.
I can only assume it is the same logic that gets us to $5m. And if it were (RI/MP)AA market values... One hundred... billion...kajillion... flazillion... dollars.

You forgot: When life is just plain sh*tty, God works in mysterious ways.

Even in Brave New World (Aldous Huxley) science was top. Granted, it was used in the wrong sort of way, but with knowledge comes responsibility.

Regretting saying "yeah, we can make that happen" every day since.
I even do that to my wife, and she hates it.

This x10.
WTF.

How does one protest the requirement of a permit in order to protest?

Will post a followup for anyone interested.

I just don't see that working well at all.
