I need both hands on the handlebars to keep the bike straight while maintaining any significant speed. Sometimes one brake isn't working well and I need the other hand ready to apply the other brake; that can be a problem even if realizing the need to brake.
Presumably the wiring and plumbing was taken for scrap. Ruining soemthing for a small percentage of junk value is a prime example of destructive criminal behavior. Too bad, since scrapping makes sense as an economic incentive for recycling trash.
In general, doing business online can often mean dealing with amateurs unwilling or unable to run things smoothly, and maybe the would-be host is an example of that.
The sharing economy could allow people to make use of extra capacity they have anyway, or help justify the purchase of something they'd also use themselves
Reminds me of Amazon reviews that rate something low because the seller or the shipper screwed up. FFS, that's not applicable to the quality of the product
That's a problem with child porn laws - if the intent is to prevent abuse of actual children, how come explicit depictions of simulated children are also illegal? Question is, does it allow perverts to vent or does it fuel perverted behavior in real life?
If I read the likes of Fox News it'll angry up the blood. National Review I can at least approach intellectually, understand where they're coming from even when I don't change my mind. I used to feel similarly about the Wall Street Journal, but their website is heavily paywalled now.
I've heard of exoskeleton tech being theorized for helping soldiers carry equipment. It makes sense that it could also help for other work that could use more strength.
Immigrant labor is an alternative to labor saving technology, and xenophobia often comes with that, so it does seem related to me. Without getting into the validity or lack thereof of anti-immigrant arguments, it's a fact that they crop up.
I suppose this is referencing TNG s2e18 Up The Long Ladder, where a hightech society is in danger of extinction because it's composed entirely of clones which will eventually become nonviable. Acquiring more genetic material (I recall them tricking Riker) would just delay the problem. Even if their society returned to sexual reproduction, they didn't have enough of a gene pool. I mainly remember that episode for the comic relief of the rustic Irish colonists. The two groups having to get along for the benefit of both was a great bit of Trek idealism.
Be careful, introducing a species to control an invasive species can become a new invasive species. Today procambarus virginalis, tomorrow Homo sapiens nawlins
From Kennedy's Rice University speech: "Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of pre-eminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war." An admirable mix of idealism and realism Dropping the ball once we showed up the Soviets was a great tragedy. Often when reaching a goal, one stops rather than keeps going.
I'm still learning to drive, and have a problem like that. I want to stick to the letter of the law to practice for the road test which makes it hard to be on the road with people who are bending the rules. I have a decent idea of what I could do in everyday driving like go a bit over the speed limit, but I don't want to get into the habit before the test.
I'd heard that Jewish people weren't white, but figured that was racist anti-Semitic slander. It seems like separate forms of bigotry, and people who discriminate in one category often do so in another.
Is it partially a debate about which European ethnic groups count as white? Some Jewish ethnic groups are based in Europe. Bernie's father was from Poland, not sure where his mother's family was from.
yeah, bathing one's teeth in it all day can't be good, especially since most people don't brush during the middle of the day, so the food and drink residue just sits there. However, I figure that person has more problems than just that, I bet they don't even brush morning and/or evening. Summer 2011, I often fell asleep without brushing, and had 10+ cavities by fall. That's bad, but the teeth were/are still there, so I figure that person was behaving worse than I did for longer than I did.

Toys R Us is going through bankruptcy, but they have a huge debt load from a leveraged buyout and may be able to survive with that discharged.

It seems like this could be useful for studying Uranus and Neptune as well for potential innovations in materials science.

Do they mean to shoot down lots of drones at once? One threat to expensive military technology is being overwhelmed by a lot of cheap attacks.
I've heard shotguns suggested for avoiding collateral damage in general, because shot doesn't have the range or ricochet of a regular bullet.

So much cynicism in that article, any tech is expensive when starting out
Re WWIII - People with apocalyptic theology on the brain might even encourage such chaos
darn it, I thought Amazon sold everything.
In the US, if someone's over the state age of consent but below 18, sexual depictions of them are still child porn under Federal law.
It's disturbing that he didn't immediately reject such a bad idea
davester666 was talking about the Japanese-American internment camps, not the Nazi concentration/death camps.
