    Thank you for your offer.

I see from your link that you have to use approved libraries. But it says, "In the case of a MOD, a copy of the original game must be available to install.".

This raises some questions for me. Co you can bring in any game you want and make a "mod" for it? What's the reasoning behind restricting users to approved libraries, if they can use any existing game? If you're making a mod, you would usually have access to the original game's sound/music/graphics. Does the music, sound and graphics that you use have to be created during the 48 hours? Doesn't the fact that you allow mods seem a little unfair to those who just made everything from scratch?

To summarize, why wouldn't you level the playing field by making the available tools much more restrictive? For example, allow only a few languages (C++, Java, C#, VB) and a few graphics libraries (OpenGL, DirectX, Swing).

Also, did any of the contestants even make a mod? Thanks... just curious. These kind of contests, like ACM, are fun.

Or "inet" or even more common, "Inet" which some BBSers insisted upon, because the word "Internet" was considered a proper noun.

Here is an article from 1995 from the ACM: http://www.acm.org/crossroads/xrds2-1/inet-history.html.

  24. Re:Let's see. on When Will AI Surpass Human Intelligence? · · Score: 2, Informative

I believe the quote is: “The question of whether a computer can think is no more interesting than the question of whether a submarine can swim.”

You see, his point was that computers will never have human-like intelligence. Humans don't think in binary. Humanity exists in part because humans are able to forget... that we all age evokes compassion. Children are special to humans because they cannot be easily reproduced. Computers can be mass-produced.

These are some reasons why a computer will never have a need for intelligence in the way we think of it. Therefore computer "intelligence" is fundamentally different than human intelligence. IT seems to me that you're missing Dijkstra's point altogether. It's not about speed. It's about applying a term incorrectly. The speed of submarines is interesting. They can go faster than fish. Dive deeper than fish. See underwater. But they don't "swim" because swimming is something that living things do. Likewise, computers could solve problems faster than humans. Recall more information. Derive better solutions. But "thinking" is something that living things do.

Also, you didn't even link to the quote.
