It is the computer that controls the "gate" in the Zanzibar level of Halo 2. To open the gate (which gives you easier access to the Flag and Bomb point on Zanzibar) you have to hit the computer which makes it BSOD and open the gate:)
Not cool actually. It was more than likely just a video demonstration of what Cell can do running in WMP. So...this could be nothing to write home about at all..
Well that is simple to explain. Which is bigger...upgraded G5's or Tiger? Tiger wins. It has the potential to affect everyone, not just those that need high end G5's.
I have a SuperDish pointed at 105, 110 and 119. Aiming it without a signal reader would be near impossible. I guess you could take your receiver and tv out by the dish and use the "Point Dish" screen;)
"and I don't want to watch TV without DVR features"
Do you think that DVR features are unique to Cable only? I have a Dish Network DVR522 and love my dual tuner Satelite DVR fun. They also have the DVR942 now which gives you all the power of 522 with the addition of HD.
Actually there is a good chance this all came preinstalled on their machines. All of our Dell Machines come with Flash already installed. When I install Firefox before deploying the machine I have to do download Flash again.
I seriously hope this post was intended to be "+5 Funny" but got modded wrong!
Ripping a CD is CPU intensive? Crap, using error correction (slows down the pull from the cd) I can rip in real time to AAC (I use iTunes) and still have AVG running and still browse the web and still have OpenOffice Writer up and still have Gaim running too. All of this on a 1.83ghz single core Athlon XP-mobile.
You can tell KDE to disable this over network storage (I have it disabled for smb://, ftp://, ect) . If you mount the network storage you can tell KDE to disable it for a certain dir and its sub dirs. So no...it really isn't a problem. Also, the data is cached in KDE so once the thumbs are built they aren't build again unless the doc changes (taht goes for all users accessing that folder)
Something tells me he is looking for a card will fully "open" drivers. Nvidia releases "free as in beer" drivers (and they work very well might I add).
Are we getting a fully open source GLX driver as well? Does that GLX driver exploit all the features of the chip? If there is hardware shaders can the GLX driver use those? Or are we getting something like the open source "nv" drive that only does 2D?
You should give Sirius a try then. With the Mplayer netscape plugin it works fine in Konquerer for me. They use WMP as well, but mplayer has no issue with it and their javascript around it runs fine (no flash for their player).
You just found a great way to implement GeoCaching in this whole thing!
Great work!
Freaking Jedi mind tricks...
I have waited for a new KDE in Debian for so long!!!

Geez...go play some Halo 2!
This coming from the company that even makes fun of all its BSOD's in their games!
Enjoy the BSOD of Halo 2

"I require my kids to use at least 14 character passwords on our home network"
To bad his daughter has it written down in her diary to remember and his son wrote it on a sticky note next to his monitor....

With comments like:
"Even grandmothers own 8-megapixel consumer digital cameras now"
I really have to question the intellegence of this poor guy. I don't know many grandma's that drop $700-$1000 on digital camera's.
"Nothing for you to see here. Please move along."
They have killed all of linux.slashdot.org!
oh crap...that is for free indy music...I am ashamed of myself.
Can't wait to see you there!

It makes perfect sense to people on /.

We are on
So why wouldn't I use that?

Gorden Moore's Law: Moore's Law will die
So in turn...once Moore's law dies, Moore's law will kick in! It will never end!!!

HBO and Showtime are both on Dish Network, in fact, I just cancelled them last month from my Dish Network account.
