One problem here. Gmail didn't drive by and install itself on your machine! You went to their page and accepted their agreement and click many-a buttons to get your account. And if you don't like it, just don't check your email and look, nothing is read!

"What about the people I email, and whose email I'd receive in a gmail account? They haven't given their consent to have their communications tapped, and I hardly think it's practical to check the privacy policy of every email provider of everyone you might want to email."
This is just a plain bad example. If your phone is tapped and I call you, I don't know that. But I still talk away. Once that email leaves your client it is out of your control, that is just the nature of it. It is no different than your ISP scanning incoming emails for SPAM and virii. Or is that an intrusion of your privacy too?

If you read the article it makes it clear that this actually hurts VOIP due to the added delay on both ends. As for your (b), again, read the article. They aren't saying ISP's will degrade the quality of any one service, they are saying they will give THEIR VOIP packets priority over everything (even your precious traffic on port 80). So yes...this could have a major impact on VOIP in our world.

I have the DishNetwork DVR 522. It is a SD box with dual tuners. This is great because I can either watch two live streams at once (on two seperate TV's or PIP on one), I can record two live streams to the Hard Drive, watch one live and record one, or I can record two and watch two previously recorded ones. The options that dual tuner DVR's bring to the table are great. Dish also just recently added their "Dish Pass" features to the 522 to offer full NBR (Name Based Recording). It is great to say "Give me all the CSI on CBS" or "Give me all the CSI on all channels" or "Give me all the new CSI on CBS". I love it!

Dish is now offering the DVR 942 as well. It is an HD DVR with all those features. The secondary output is SD and will even down sample all HD content (live and recorded) for viewing on your secondary box.

To not include these offerings from Dish seems silly. They are serious about DVR.

Yosemite even offers a 30 day trial of their software with no limitations.
