Really a judge on a high profile matter should know to step aside if there is even the appearance of impropriety.

    Part of the case is to decide how far Swedish copyright law goes. It is a clear conflict of interest to belong to several organizations with a stated opinion on the issue, one of which lists one of the plaintiff's attorneys as a member.

    Those damage ratios are exactly what these filings are about. The judge has been asked to consider if such statutory damages may violate cruel and unusual punishment restriction by being so far out of line. Part of the judge's determination would be which cost if any to compare the damages with.

    and sometimes amputating limbs in a hasty manner leads to blood loss killing the patient. Systemic risk is a real issue that has to be taken into account when planning a course of action.
