Maybe we can put collars on every politician, a la Running Man, that record everything they say. And of course someone has to have a button that explodes the collar...
Fools in government, and the fools that believe the fools in government, only seem to talk about insurance. The problem is cost, and Obamacare has done zilch to do anything about the cost of healthcare.
That may be true, and I'm sure a lot of IT Directors have investigated migrating away from Windows, but it's not cheap or easy to replace decades of MS based work product.
The stock market hasn't been about investing in a long time, if ever. Anything beyond the original stock issuance and sale is simply gamblign. How many of these "investors" that cry about things like HFT own stocks that pay dividends? They're only in the market to score a bargain and sell high to some other sucker who hopes he can sell even higher.
Mass manufacturing has economies of scale that small scale manufacturing can't touch. 3D printing is the long tail of manufacturing. Need a replacement part for your car that Toyota stopped making 10 years ago? No problem.
Republicans don't have to kill unions, Democrats do it for them by actively supporting millions upon millions of unskilled laborers flowing into the country, ensuring that we drive low end wages to zero.
And the Democrats like Obama will continue to stock the government chock full of ex Goldman bankers while saying "Hey, I supported gay marriage" and the idiots who pull the lever for the D team will keep voting for him.
Combine this concept with Kinect's tracking abilities (after a few years of improvements to both) and you could do exactly what you're talking about. Detailed input could be done via a virtual keyboard where the device tracked your finger movements in space.
I guess we simply disagree then. My city never went to war in Vietnam or Iraq. That was the feds. Many states would end the war on drugs, except for the fed. While the power of the federal government has many advantages for preserving rights, it also has the potential to (and frequently does) abuse people to a far greater extent than any city ever could.
I guess that's just a cost of choosing to live in the middle of nowhere, isn't it? City dwellers also pay a hell of a lot more per square foot for their homes than people who live in the boonies. Cheap connectivity is one of the benefits. Unless people who live in the sticks plan to subsidize inner city housing prices, why should the city dwellers subsidize internet to the middle of nowhere?
My company's web based payroll system interface is incompatible with newer versions of Java. We're a few minor versions of the payroll software behind because we haven't had the resources to properly test and roll out the patches, so we're stuck with old version of Java for now.
Thanks but no thanks. I don't want Washington DC owning the copper to my home. Good luck ever getting anything done then.
Why can't cities own the last mile? Why is the answer always "NATIONALIZE IT!!!!" Can't smaller government entities do anything for themselves anymore? It seems one side only believes in nationalizing everything and the other believes in privatizing everything. They're both stupid.
In other words, if a black person votes for Republicans it's because they're wrong? Do Democrats own black votes? Are they shackled to the donkey? Sounds like Democrats are as dependent on racism as Republicans are.
Until roughly three minutes after chipping becomes mandatory and someone hacks the encryption, then implants themself with a programmable RFID chip.
It actually would be quite handy to be whoever I wanted at any time I chose. Also bear in mind that the more automatic and complex these kinds of systems become, the more the average person simply relies on what the computer tells them rather than thinking. I can imagine that I, a white guy, could probably easily pass as Michelle Obama as long as the computer told the bank teller that's who I was. Hey, the chip checks out. That must be her.
The TSA already pays the least it can. I fail to see the difference, other than the fact that government has the weight of law behind it while private companies have to compete for business.

How dare you infringe on someone's right to grow crops in places they won't grow naturally at the expense of others!?!

Right, because the cheap plastic parts that are used for everything nowadays never break...
And perhaps you haven't heard of it because you're either A) not paying attention and B) 3D printing hasn't hit the mainstream.

Is that the same inflation that the government claims doesn't exist, even though it's obvious to every consumer that prices are going up?
Two sides of the same coin.

Then it's a good thing we invented global warming or we'd all be meatsicles right now!
I'm sure this country's army of baristas would back you up on the safety of a college degree...

Heh, I posted about our payroll system above that requires older java. It's Kronos.

Really? So they don't use emergency rooms? They don't use roads? They don't send their children to school?
What are these wonderful benefits that the average citizen gets which illegals don't have access to?
Why does the US need more poor unskilled people? Don't we have a lack of blue collar jobs as it is?
In other words, if a black person votes for Republicans it's because they're wrong? Do Democrats own black votes? Are they shackled to the donkey? Sounds like Democrats are as dependent on racism as Republicans are.
So then surely countries are a relic as well. One world government, eh?
Chips won't change...
