It's not in the news at all in the US. We "won" it because our government tells us so. What exactly did we win? That's the real question, but no one will answer it.
drugs that can be marketted and sold for high profits wouldn't be illegal. If you can grow/make them in your garage, they are "highly illegal" and schedule 3.
War on Terror is hardly a war in the definition of the word. War on Drugs is the same way.
Who and what are we at war with right now?
Afghanistan? Didn't we win and pull most of our troops to Iraq? Iraq? I thought Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" Terror? Terror comes in all forms, including saying things like "if we pull out of Iraq, we will be attacked again."
I could never figure that game out. I spent hours on it, and only got to a few different planets before i was whisked away in a black hole or something and ended up on the other side of the universe.
Linux is NOT the answer to everything. There are other operating systems that are better at certain things.
The playgound is crowded with operating systems. The point of the fines is microsoft is not letting anyone play with the ball. It has nothing to do with letting linux into the game. Microsoft not only holds the ball, it also gets to set the rules to the game.
webos.com is still there and is now known as hyperoffice. It's the same company.
They appear to still be in business and selling their server-based desktop application services. It looks very much like a groupware product now though, and less like a web-based operating system.
Google will still be in business, but what happens to your data when they decide to start ramping up the profit in their GooOS. No one wants to get caught having to pay for their own data again.
FWIW, they have been talking about something like this for the past 10 years. I remember seeing WebOS back in the late 90s when PCs and storage were so expensive. It's a neat idea, but I cannot see it happening anytime soon. There's just no business model.
you're probably running windows 3.11 too, on a 486-33mhz with 16MB of ram.
I can't believe you can't be bothered touching the mouse, and yet you spend 5 minutes writing a diatribe about how "old school" you are.
back in my day, we didn't have these internet thingys. If we wanted to get news, we'd sit out on our porch and wait for the paper to be delivered. It was slow, and we liked it like that.
What verifying age would do is basically make it 18+.
If anything, the parents should be the ones held responsible for their underage daughter's actions. They are, afterall, supposed to be legal guardians.

It should be called "War on (some) Drugs"

Maybe you should get a better browser. Worked fine in Firefox on linux.
Can we declare war against an intangible target?

Who has $5k to blow on a toy?
If they were $50, there would be many, many more of them out in the streets.
So.....you are limiting an unlimited service?
What happens when your cell phone causes a cancer in your intestine, and the radio waves from your mouse/keyboard kill the cancer?
or vice versa.
you would at least lock the door to your house, right? I bet you'd even lock the deadbolt and turn on the alarm.
Diebold insists on using a cheap, bicycle lock to protect the box of gold, and everyone has a skeleton key (a big flat-head screwdriver).
Why can't you just use an NBD server and client and setup software raid1?
Why put duct tape on the space shuttle?
they have this spray that you can buy that eliminates the reflective qualities of the plate, making your numbers/letters near invisible.
there's another one that makes it all reflective, so a camera flash will be blinded out.
Let me be the first to say:
DUH!
Why would you think there wouldn't be a data plan required? You are going to be downloading data, from google.com.
too slow to stream video?
What kind of video are you trying to stream from it. It should just be disk IO, and a full HD video stream fills up about 5-8MB/sec.
Hopefully, you are mistaken.

I found some data:
a n_countries_by_GDP_PPP
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_North_Americ
North America GDP: $14,859,957
EU GDP: 12,427,413
Well, Largest economy?
You can't really compare a union of countries with a single country. Why not compare the EU to all of North America (Mexico, USA, and Canada)?
it was on mainstream tv, just not on a mainstream timeslot. It then got cancelled. and renewed by Fox.
Since then, i find it mostly repeats basic scenarios.
It's funny, don't get me wrong, but Futurama should have been renewed instead of the family guy back in 2005.
I can't imagine shows like these cost much to make. I don't see why it took so long to return.
The family guy. That show has consistently gone downhill since it got on mainstream tv.
Ladies and gentlemen, What that librarian showed was something that's hard to find these days, integrity.
The police come in and try to bully her out of information that she's not required to give, and she stands up to them to defend her rights.

MySpace should countersue the parents.
