You do realize Narconon is heavily connected to Scientology right? The book that Willian in the quote was reading was "Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought" Frankly, I think any politician supporting Narconon needs to be shunned far away from public office. Democrat, Republican, it doesn't matter, cults aren't okay.

Reading, math, geography, history, these things are actually useful. I know how to communicate with other humans, how to take a derivative, and what happens if you give a fire oxygen. People who don't have access to the school system of America often don't know these things. If we left schooling to parents only, many kids would not learn math, science, reading, history, or geography.

No, the analogy you picked is wrong. In this model of fairness mentioned it's about getting everyone to a basic level before trying to boost the opulence of the top levels. Removing the dictator who's a murdering psychopath is a higher priority that removing the elected official who likes to sleep with hookers.

Actually the IWC has a moratorium on all commercial whaling. The reason the moratorium exists is all ecological and not-at-all ethical. Both sides distort this issue like crazy. The Japanese pretend like they're not doing commercial whaling and the Sea Sheperds and Green Peace try to make it sound like the IWC is against whaling for ethical reasons.

Let's kill both sides and feed them to the whales.

  14. Re:wow on Toyota Robot Violinist Wows At Shanghai Expo · · Score: 1

The violin probably wasn't bolted to the hand, it just was holding the neck in an unrealistic way to compensate for the lack of dexterity. I'll begin to be impressed when the robot lifts the violin, places it's head on the shoulder rest and then removes the left hand to tune the strings...

  15. Re:wow on Toyota Robot Violinist Wows At Shanghai Expo · · Score: 1

I think the violinist robot has plenty of issues other than needing to fake itself. For one it holds the violin funny which means it can't change positions, can't hold it's bow so it has a giant blocky handle to compensate, cheats on vibrato by using the fact that it has metal fingers so that it can't press and decompress the strings instead of rolling the fingertip, and the bowing sounds kinda rough.
