And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. 3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven
What an odd question. How would I prove that, any more than you could prove directing the money to basic research would have been better? It's a nonsensical question, like someone asking "If Elizabeth I had married a Catholic monarch, would England have still become the major naval power of its time?"
Sounds like a good alternate history novel, mind if I use it?
I'm not a big games player, but I have a PSP and enjoy playing games sometimes. Paying ~ $40 for a UMD is annoying. I have bought used games for far less and with PSP hacks abounding have considered that.
If games were priced at or about half, I would buy more games new
Even my cellphone can stream internet radio, so even for portable usage you don't have to rip the stream.
At this moment I'm using RadioSure to listen to and record a Carlin Album. I use an inexpensive cell phone and a prepaid service because I don't use a cell phone all that much. Streaming internet radio on your phone means a data plan so it costs you WAY more than my plan.
Sometimes free costs more than free.
Been saying this all along. Why buy a one trick pony when so many choices abound? I do not need battery life measure in weeks, 9-12 hours is fine. The netbook also has many more uses and color and can dance backwards in heels.
This guy is talking out of his ass. "It hasn't turned out like they said, no wait it has".
Not too long ago, it was "why don't I have a flat screen wall mounted TV"? And now you have it. Robot cars = DARPA challenge; ST communicator - cell phone in a watch. Jet pack? Every mad scientist is working on it.
Take the violin. Millions made but why is it that a Stradivarius sounds better than all of them? Back then there was no one big musical instrument maker to make a standard to adhere to. Even today the sound of an old Gibson Les Paul or Fender Strat is something a manufacturer might strive for but not quit achieve.
"After all if we want nonhuman intelligences we already have plenty at the local pet stores and various farms, and how well are we handling those?"
Quite well actually. Check out how much money we spend on feeding and pampering our pets. Cats and dogs eat better than most people in third world countries.
Sure some people mistreat their animals, but not the great majority.
more like a suppository
Am I the only person who thinks that robot "pets" are just a little bit creepy?
There casting??? What happened to the original cast?
Yes, but there would probably be a 3 year contract and exorbitant fee for early termination.
I'm just saying.

Do you really think that Murdock the Merciless will keep Hulu fees reasonable? Reasonable to whom?
Amen.

Or, I could just use my netbook running Ubuntu

What's your major malfunction Private Joker?
A quart of milk
and come home right a way
repeat...
So yadda, yadda, Windows 7 is better than Vista. I should hope so, since Vista is craptastic.

Bit of the voyeur there?
And given to coding in iambic pentameter.
