There's also Giants: Citizen Kabuto , which is exactly that: an action-RTS game, with an interesting story and a GREAT sense of humor! If you missed it, you can pick it up for $6.00 from Good Old Games.
These things were expressed clearly over 5 years ago, the reason "pirates" don't like him is because he comes over like some PR shill employing reverse psychology.
I thought pirates LIKED "shill"ings?
(Thank you, thank you, I'm here till Thursday! Try the veal!)
Haha, it's SO funny when you point that out! To notice how gay (happy) he is, you must be REALLY queer (I'm using the literal term for strange or odd from a conventional viewpoint)! Isn't literalness great?!
Not just weird; dangerous for reasons other posters have cited.
Hypermilers are starting to get really annoying. I was behind a person the other day who refused to go more than 30 in a 40mph zone on a road where one cannot pass. The line of cars full of unhappy people behind me got to be very long just in the short 2 mile trip to Home Depot. If that were not bad enough, she took a good half mile just to get to 30.
That's all well and good, but she wasn't breaking the law whatsoever. In the US, most States DO have a minimum Speed Limit as well as a maximum, but she would have been well within her rights to drive 30mph in a 40mph zone ANYWHERE. Was she being inconsiderate? Possibly. She was definitely annoying many other drivers, but that doesn't make her actions illegal. As a matter of fact, she may not even be a hypermiler; she may have simply been uncomfortable driving any faster than 30mph on that road. It might be annoying when someone is going slower in front of you than you want to go, but trust me when I tell you that you do NOT want someone going faster than they feel they can handle. Now, if she was going 15mph, she may have been an honest threat, but at 10mph under the posted Speed Limit, she was well within her rights. I sympathize with you, but remember that just because it bothers YOU doesn't make it illegal, or even wrong.
As far as I can see, following this "story" from the start in different news reports - it has evolved from "evolution in humans is slowing down" to "evolution has stopped".
In related news, the evolution of this story has stopped!
Back to you, Jane, you ignorant slut!
ladies and gentlemen, we've found another dingbat. Please call the party wagon and get the proper meds ready.
As anyone from outside the US how "liberal" the US media is, and you'll have to sedate them to stop the laughter.
Ah, yes. I questioned you opinion, so I must be a looney, right? Did I ever say that I was a Conservative? In fact, I am, but unless you went through my other posts and saw that, you would simply have grouped me in the "Right-wing nut" category because I didn't agree with your pre-conceived notions of how everyone SHOULD think.
As for asking anyone outside the US whether our media is liberal or not, it's really not relevant to this discussion; you said
when your political enemies run the media as a propaganda arm of their party
;that brings the discussion down to the two-party system in the US, unless you're a Brit and were referring to the Green Party, perhaps? A bit of advice for you: Try and stay centered on the topic and make valid comparisons; DON'T use a/. comment as proof for ANYTHING (we're all opinionated, remember?); and don't link to comment that DOES state that "CNN trended left in the early 90's", as that's bad for your argument.
. I'm surprised that many people who normally are pro-freedom turn out to have very situational ethics when it comes to people they regard as political enemies.
when your political enemies run the media as a propaganda arm of their party, then whistle innocently or cry "tinfoil hat" when anyone points out the obvious.
Really? So you're a Republican, then? Most of the major media outlets are amazingly liberal in their coverage, and historically left-leaning in their support...
I may be mistaken (and often am), but I seriously think you misinterpreted that interview. The subject was allowing single-player characters ("offlines")to be used on Battle.net. In the last iteration (D2), you couldn't build up an offline character and then use it online; you had to have two separate characters. Mind you, the article/interview is poorly translated into English, but the gist seems to be that they want to allows offline characters onto Battle.net with other offline characters. However, they emphasize that there will still be a separation between offline characters and online characters, for fairness sake. He then talks about having no intention of allowing Battle.net characters into LAN games. That seems to be the sum of it, at least when I read through it.
...get rid of the freakin' tv. My wife and I got rid of ours, and are ever-so-much the happier for it. Our son is growing up without a tv addiction, and we still all curl up and watch appropriate movies on our laptop. Sometimes he'll sit on my lap and we'll watch YouTube videos (Muppets how, Sesame Street, etc). Guess what? It's the ULTIMATE whitelist. You want your child to learn how to do more than just sit in front of the tv, veg out, and get fat? TEACH THEM! You ever want to see what parents are really like, watch their young children. A toddler will mimic you to perfection, in all the good and the bad. Play games with your children, wrestle with them, build things from blocks, read to them (anyone remember books?!), take them for walks and hikes, take them fishing, play video games with them There's some great emulators for pc!), teach them how to do something other than rot their wee little minds in front of a glowing box ALL DAY LONG. All things have their time and place, but it's amazing how well NOT having a tv works.
I don't buy that argument about console DRM. Sure, its hard(er) to burn games on consoles but there is one stark difference with more or less all console games: I can eject my disc, take it to my mates house, pop it in his console and play it there. I can also re sell my used games and there is an avid market for this, hell the two biggest ps3 titles this year have been available for swap for "6 used ps2 games" at many stores around the place.
DRM on the PC exists explicitly to prevent you from doing any of this. I don't see why.
First off, you make some excellent points, and I agree with all of them. However, your question above, "why can't I take my disc to a friends house and play it on pc, but I can on console?" is pretty easy, actually: Because there are ways to play the game WITHOUT the disc on PCs. If you're playing Fable on your Xbox, you need the Fable disc in there the whole time. However, if you're playing Fable on your PC, you can get around that with a cracked exe, because on PCs you actually INSTALL the game, not just "run" it. That, my friend, is the major difference. I'm not saying it's right, because I firmly believe that I have every right to play a PC game that I paid for WITHOUT the freakin' disc in my drive! The difference is, though, that you CAN'T take that game to your friends house, pop in his Playstation 3, then take it home and you BOTH still being able to play it. However, if you take a PC game there, install it for him, patch the exe to a cracked "NO CD" version, then you can BOTH play it at the same time, on different computers, and NEITHER of you needs the disc. Just my $.02.
Well, now, you should have signed up for the Beat! I got their Beta early access, and the site was a breeze. They even take PayPal now, for that matter! They ran a special for the Beta users over the weekend, where you buy one, get one free. For $5.99 (the current cost of all their games), I got 2 great older games I'd missed out on the first time around. Honestly, the service couldn't have been any easier; you pick the game(s), pay, and then you can download them numerous times, and install them all willy-nilly, if you like. You get the pdf manual, some wallpaper, even artwork and avatar icons, if they're available. The download speeds were great, and I easily maintained 1MB/s downstream. Just my $.02 worth, but I'll definitely be using GOG again!
Consequences seem to have become antiquated these days.
And public schools were one of the first perpetrators of this.
There, fixed that for you. Half of the Elementary Schools in our Nation don't even have "winners" and "losers" at ball games any more. Now, I'll be the first to agree that it is NOT the schools' responsibility to raise our children, nor should it be. The responsibility to raise the kids and teach them values, morals, etc is firmly in the hands of the parents, and should remain there. I worked for a school system for 5 years, and the political BS that goes on there is astounding. The number of teachers that are more concerned about Little Timmy having a high Emotional Quotient and good self-esteem rather than a solid education in Math, Science, Reading, Literature, etc, is astounding. Do you realize that some schools no longer correct spelling because "the child should be free to express themselves in written word" ?! Sorry, I have no sympathy for schools that kowtow to the wishes of a few irate parents. Grow some balls and actually TEACH our children like you're paid to do, and defend the right to do so. As for the parents, if they hate the public schools, they can stick Little Timmy and Susie in a private school where they are taught EXACTLY according to the parents' wishes, and the parents can deal with an 18 year old with no skills that can't spell, can barely read, and has no marketable value.
How is it that someone can get a majority of votes and not win? Everyone's vote should be equal; having some people's vote count more than other people's vote is absurd.
You would be correct if we had a Democracy, though. In a true Democracy, every person votes, and every person's vote counts equally. However, we are a Republic in the USA; a group of people appointed to cast votes control the election outcome. Now, we happen to have a Democratic Republic, where the people casting votes are elected by the rest of us. However, your "popular vote" is actually worth nothing. It makes people feel good that they voted, and it hypothetically influences our Elected Officials to cast their votes the way we want them to. In truth, they could vote however they wanted and we couldn't do anything about it, except NOT re-elect them next term. Now, the wise Official would want to vote the same as the majority of his/her constituents, but they aren't legally bound to, by any means.
There's also Giants: Citizen Kabuto , which is exactly that: an action-RTS game, with an interesting story and a GREAT sense of humor! If you missed it, you can pick it up for $6.00 from Good Old Games.
If only this had been posted early yesterday, when I still had Mod points! Bravo, and great repudiation!

"They"...you know, "them."

heh! Don't knock it. I paid for my wife's wedding ring by walking the street...

"My life is a cake!" - you, confused, at 26.

Come on, you know the battlefields of the future are going to look like a 1980's G.I. Joe cartoon. Hilarious. Wait... Not really hilarious...
The important thing is that now we know...and knowing is half the battle!
Not that Spelling Nazi's are prevalent here or anything, but shouldn't that title read "Postfix's Creator" and not "Postifix's Creator"?
