  1. Patents suck on Microsoft Gaming Patents — Where They're Going · · Score: 2, Informative

It's official. If you can patent these things, patents have become truly useless and sucky. Devices that are both TV and gaming device are so old. Even cellular phones do it. Oh and PC's of course. Useless. Lawyers are truly, really, degrading human progress.

In that case, is there anything that would make a large band choose RIAA instead of this new system? Because, they still do!

  5. Cost on Amazon & TuneCore To Cut Out the RIAA Middleman · · Score: 1

Ok, here the fixed cost is $31 and you get 40% of the sales.
What are these values when using RIAA middle man? If there it's also 40% or less of the sales, they got pretty much owned. If you get more % of the sales, then there's a point where it's more profitable to use RIAA than Amazon :).

  6. Maybe it's a good concept on Throwing Out the Rulebook For MMOs · · Score: 1

Fantasy stories with quests and dragons are already popular for centuries, they're just very appealing. If so many MMORPGs have this concept, maybe it's because this concept is good. I don't know what "hardcore" RPG fans want, do they want weird extraterrestial storylines instead, or "no quests" so what are they going to do instead?

I really, really, hope that the current work of DnF is not lost. That all the data, code, levels, ..., are going to be released somewhere. Or better, finished into a playable state.

Isn't it possible to find a different developer that can take it over?

  10. New??? on On the Feasibility of Single-Server MMOs · · Score: 1

I know many MMO's that are single server. The biggest usually have shards, but so extremely many MMO's do not, and for so long already. So I don't even understand why they call it a "technology" in this article summary.

  11. Re:Regexp and exact word matching options on Google Unveils Search Options and Google Squared · · Score: 2, Informative

Those options are not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for exact symbol search in strings like "C#" or "x = y * 2", and also, case sensitive search. Sometimes one needs to find identifiers on the internet (and not just in google code search).

  12. Regexp and exact word matching options on Google Unveils Search Options and Google Squared · · Score: 5, Insightful

I wish Google had the ability to search for regular expressions and exact word matching. Searching for exact words or things that contain other symbols than letters is unfortunately very hard with Google and so sometimes it's useless in situations where it could have been so powerful.

The only Hungarian notation I know is that of Windows MFC, and that IS stupid. The names don't even match the types anymore because they changed the names and not the types. Trendy or not, I was genuinly annoyed about it when I read that book, which was in 2002 or 2003. Ok I got it, appearantly now clicking a tag in slashdot opens all articles with that tag. The last months it wasn't like that, and the months before that it gave an overview (which was the best behaviour). Anyway that confused me into thinking all articles of today were XKCD related. MAKE UP YOUR MIND SLASHDOT. If I click a tag, do something SIMPLE, not weird too advanced javascript loading things that open confusing pages.

I read his book "a new kind of sciene", but while it is interesting indeed, his writing style is so full of himself that it gets annoying after a while. It looks unprofessional. He should have used a more neutral writing style and not mention himself all the time. What he did really hurts the book, and my image of him whenever I hear about other projects, like this one, related to his name.
