Thousands and thousands of games. All playable on Linux. And this is going away:( What a shame.
Many of these games are crap, but there are some really good ones out there.
The ability to have a single file contain a complete game with audio, graphics, and so, and have that work on all current OSes, which people could play simply by giving them the link to it, no install needed, or download locally and play offline there, was pretty awesome. Those times will be no more:(
What the heck do they mean by an "unexploded ordnance"? Anything that hasn't been exploded yet? We must explode more things to get rid of all those unexploded ordnances!
Well, I can't help it, but the name Windows RT sounds quite lame, a bit like Windows CE. And something as simple as what the name sounds like, influences everything you think about it, no matter what its contents are.
I was always kind of happy to be stuck with an old Skype version on Linux, because the Skype client I saw on the computers of Windows users looks kind of bloated to me. But I received the Skype 4.0 udpate on my Linux, and it looks very similar to the previous version, so I'm relieved.
With all the respect to Linus Torvalds (Whose OS I'm obviously using, otherwise I wouldn't post about this here), I hope this kind of statements by him won't discourage NVidia from keeping to release their pretty good drivers for Linux.
Thanks to the Nvidia drivers, I can play many games in Wine, have my graphics card "just work" without pain, and use fast accelarated OpenGL for several programs and my own experiments. These drivers are fantastic. WTH does Linus find wrong about them?
I don't know how it's in the U.S., but in Europe, many people LOVE cars. Not the getting from point A to B, but the CAR. The sound of the engine. The smell of the interior. Etc...
I'm more amazed by the fact that I had to buy a 27" desktop screen just to get a tiny resolution of 1920x1200, even though technology is capable of making higher pixel density. And I didn't WANT a 27" monitor, I wanted a smaller one with higher resolution, but it just doesn't exist (except these super expensive medical or industrial ones).
At least there seems to be ONE thing on which Apple and me agree.
While reading the first sentence, for one moment I thought it was going to end like this:
Since 1985, scientists have been trying to determine how Buckyballs (scientifically named Buckminsterfullerene ) are useful.
Feel the sand of the beach between your toes and hear the sea while manufacturing, yay!

Did you mean, a blologist?
Yes, that's what the summary said: "... A forerunner of the world wide web, Minitel ..."

First of all, a chatbot conversation is always like: you, bot, you, bot, you, bot, ...
It'd be more realistic if the bot would say multiple things in a row sometimes, or sometimes nothing and then later suddenly some stuff.
Or if it'd throw in a relevant reference to an internet meme now and then...
> This is why, although I am a Mac user, my Firefox agent string says 'Windows XP' :)"
Why would you do that, if you're a Mac user, don't you prefer to select the pricier hotels rather than seeing those common hostels for WinXP users?
Solaris, where simple things like pressing the up arrow in the terminal don't work (or was it tab completion, one of the two, don't remember which).
Solaris is like Linux, except that everything is a little worse.
Maybe back in those days you mentioned it was good compared to the rest then... But maybe today it's still like it was in 1992 or so?
Alright, saw its trailer on YouTube, looks silly but good :D
This guy is comparing some random app for Apple with the masterpiece that is the first Star Wars trilogy?
I don't really know Austin Powers, but isn't the white cat from James Bond?

But you used the Anonymous Coward account so nobody will believe it was you!
> Then the riots start.
Then the virtual riots start. But nothing will actually happen.
It's extremely easy and available, there are so many ways and places to stream it, so it doesn't surprise me that it's popular...
This is the second (if not more) article on /. complaining about the high framerate in this movie.
Yes, we should have lower FPS! Let's render it with a Riva TNT card!

I mean seriously, wasn't Windows 8 having all this newfangled interface specifically for tablets?

Slashdot is indeed quite slow, but the comments on ./ are SO much more interesting that it's worth the wait for me.
I don't understand why ./'ers refer to reddit as the new ./. Reddit looks like 4chan to me.
