Yesterday we had people in the US complaining that it wasn't April 1 yet (well, not in their timezone). And today we have people in Australia complaining that it's not April 2 anymore (well, not in their timezone).
Going by the time they started (midnight UTC), they've still got 2 hours left. Which won't, of course, stop the complaining.
Awesome, but can it run on an Intel Mac?

I've been trying to set up a new web server running in a VMWare instance of Fedora Core 5 on Windows XP Home booting on an Intel Mac. Anyone know if SQL on Rails is compatible with this setup?
Yeah. I could actually believe someone would do the computer simulationsm, though there were clues even in that part of the article. Aside from the matter of how much genome data we have to start with, it's the kind of think you expect some team of grad students to come up with for fun in their off hours, like the guys who measured the flatness of a pancake in a laser microscope and compared it to elevation data for Kansas (to determine, one and for all, whether Kansas really is as flat as a pancake). Referring back to the older article with "Paolo Fril's" previous endeavor was a nice touch. It's not until you get to the "Let's synthesize the DNA and put it in a cell!" plan that the klaxons start *really* going off.
Consider: We know the toasters are migrating now. We also know they are migrating in response to the approach of winter. Therefore, they must be in the southern hemisphere. That means that in order to head for the tropics -- or for the summer in the opposite hemisphere -- they must migrate northward.
I don't know how much traffic Cute Overload gets, but judging by the number of large images on their home page, I think they're about to get overloaded themselves...
...until I got to the part about it being a free download. Shyeah, right!

I thought this was about the GNU compiler tools!
Or maybe it's a foolow-up?
"MBA Eye for the OSS Guy," or something like that?
...welcome our new Information Overloads.
It seems that the cure for information overload is unlikely to be misinformation overload.
You may laugh, but I've actually written a search engine that way.
Admittedly, the site in question went into operation exactly one year ago...
Or Scogle?
Sushi USB drives reported here!
Now anyone who hasn't seen these before will think they're a hoax!

From Steve Jackson Games, it's GURPS Bunnies and Burrows.
No, really!
Now its reminds me of that kid in school who got way too excited about something and couldn't stop talking about it.
Isn't that Slashdot's target audience?
Que trolls? Siempre hay muchos trolls aquí. Es Slashdot.
Oh, you meant cue trolls! My mistake!
Well, it doesn't *say* the arm was programmed using C#, but you never know...

Well, Paulo Fril is an anagram. Still trying to figure out San Melito.
Well, they do at least have penguin pictures. It's kinda Linuxy.

At least, that's what I'm imagining him saying...
