There are a lot of people that I wouldn't trust to vote, yet I'm not out preaching for Vote Control. And there are around 4 million people that I 100% do not trust with a gun - police officers, federal agents, and soldiers.
Don't forget Chris Dorner - one guy shut down most of California for several days and had a 6:1 KDR. If one man could do that, what would a few dozen do? 50 people with basic training (one in each state) could pretty much bring all federal and state government agencies to a screeching halt. Also, don't forget that gun owners outnumber combined military / police / federal agents by somewhere between 20-25 to 1.
All guns are suitable for a war zone. Which I know was your point, that no one but government thugs should have guns - but it's still a stupid comment.
It mystifies me that so many gun owners are against at least making sure that new gun owners are made to learn to shoot before being allowed to own guns
They're against the government forcing you to jump through hoops before you're allowed to exercise a Constitutionally protected right. Do you think people must pay for and pass a class on voting before being allowed to register to vote? No gun owner is against people getting training, merely against forced training by the government.
any realistic, crime-reducing regulation would be politically infeasible
I'd love to know what these "realistic, crime-reducing regulations" are. If someone is willing to commit a violent crime, what law about magazine size, barrel length, frequency of purchasing legal guns, registration, etc do you think would prevent them from breaking that law too?
Translation: "Apple is paying us a lot of money in hopes of selling more iJunk devices as the only way to access our new services for a month or two during our most popular show's new season".
Wait until the latest season is done (thankfully HBO / Showtime seasons are only 10 episodes), then subscribe for a month and binge the shit out of a few shows and cancel it. Repeat every few months. You get easy and legal access to the shows you want and you don't pay much money.
I'm running Win 7 Enterprise on my home desktop....no nagging update for me! Though now I need to hit up/r/Microsoftsoftwareswap to get a Win 7 or Win 8.1 key really cheap so I'm eligible for the upgrade.
Most people I know (I'm in my early 30's) have grown utterly disgusted with both Republicans and Democrats and are now more-or-less libertarians. I think it's a trend that will grow as more and more people realize that both Republicans and Democrats have utter contempt for civil rights and personal choice.
I just got a six pack of reusable cups for less than $10 on Amazon for my Keurig 1.0. That way I don't even have to worry about washing them every day, just toss them in the dishwasher once a week when I'm already going to run it. Saves money and is incredibly convenient, I can't believe that they were dumb enough to not even make an official reusable cup at their normal absurdly high prices.
Good bang for your buck and ethical business practices. Hell, just the unethical business practices alone should make most informed people stay away from Intel.
This is actually a really good idea. Stage events like this to lure psychotic murderers out, then eliminate the threat. It keeps innocent people safe and saves on tax dollars from not having to keep the religious lunatics in prison - everybody wins.
I'm sorry, I just can't believe when someone says that they don't care about a blurry picture or extremely noticeable pixelation. That's like someone saying "If I like the restaurant, I don't care if there's a family of cockroaches in my food".
Thanks for totally ignoring the last point that actual speeds are a fraction of the rated speeds
Depends on provider / where you live. I pay for 50 Mbps from TWC and while it varies some (it's cable, of course it'll vary some), I usually a little OVER 50 Mbps, even during peak hours. That's with multiple gamers / Netflix addicts in the house. The only time speed becomes an issue is if someone is being inconsiderate and running several torrents at a time while everyone else is trying to stream movies / download games off Steam.
Have you seen how massive games are these days? GTA V is a 60 GB download, The Evil Within is a 50 GB download, Titanfall is 30 GB, etc - all just the base games, no DLC included in those sizes. If you're barely paying more than you used to pay for a 30 - 50 Mbps connection, why WOULDN'T you go for 1 - Gbps and not have to spend hours or days downloading a new game?

I believe it is more effective to vote and send hand-written letter to your congressman
Thanks for that, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. No one with a brain actually thinks that voting or writing the oligarchy has any impact.

Netflix US has it now, too.

Sure, it hasn't been repaved in years and it is only one lane with five lanes' worth of traffic, but there aren't any car brand restrictions!"
Sounds like the government maintained roads we have now.
Because drastically increasing the taxes everyone pays just to get to work and back or go to the store won't decrease consumer spending?

Other than the author being butthurt at modernization, what's the problem here?

32" 720p TV. Do you...do you sit four inches away? Or did you pay for binoculars? Still running a 486 with 2 MB of RAM for your desktop?
Yes, because that's totally why people like it and not for the fact that you can actually see detail and don't have pixelation or "jagged edges".
I enjoy your work of fiction and wish to subscribe to your monthly short stories email. Where do I sign up?

I am not enough of a videophile to discern the difference between 720p and 1080p.
That's not a "videophile" thing, that's a "Dude, you should probably go to an optometrist and get that check out" thing.
