    I need to say two things:
    One, English is not my native language. Two, I really hate to need writing in English. Brazilian portuguese - my native language - is difficult to translate correty to english (respecting the grammar from the original text on Brazilian) and is why my posts do not have correct grammar or syntax. As example, this same text on Brazilian below:

    Eu preciso falar duas coisas:
    Um, Ingles nao e a minha linguagem nativa. Dois, eu realmente odeio ter que escrever em Ingles. O portugues brasileiro - minha linguagem nativa - e dificil de ser traduzida corretamente para o ingles (respeitando a gramatica do texto original em brasileiro) e por isso que os meus posts nao tem a gramatica ou a sintaxe correta.

    P.S: Slashdot is unable to show correty ISO-8859-1 characters like "é"

    1) space
    2) profit margin on mass production. 2GB on one netbook is cheap, but try to buy RAM to install on 100.000 (or much more) netbooks.
    3) power usage. 1GB uses a little less power than 2GB or more, and on one netbook, power usage is important.

    Not really true when you is the maker from the system, and need to maintain the total cost low enougth to get a reasonable profit margin. And a netbook may do not have space to put lots of RAM, hardisk and stay low on power usage too.

    ... on non-Apple hardware because they get system stability with a strict controled hardware. If you put any non-apple hardware, they (Apple) cannot garantee anymore the stability or the behavior of the system.

    And of course, they have a considerable profit on sell "apple hardware"

    Google translator can't do most of grammar. As example, if you try to translate something on English to my language (Brazilian Portuguese), the grammar on process is killed without mercy. The same occurs on Brazilian to English

    Why figth against a stupid corp like Amazon, if you can simply use real books (no DRM here, you can give then to your friends, sell, etc) or use a better - and open - option like one netbook with PDF reader? For me, Kindle is a expensive and useless toy.

    Why use 30MB to do task "X" if you can make a program to do the same task (and with the same funcionality) using 10MB? This is the point of Vista/7 versus XP question.

    Windows 3.1 cannot do the same tasks as XP, and cannot provide the same functions. Conclusion, you uses more RAM and more CPU time, but you can do more things.

    Windows Vista do almost the same tasks of XP, but uses a lot of more memory to do this. Conclusion, you do the same but using more RAM and more CPU.

    Clear now?

    Font rendering now works on OO 3.2? As example, he is unable to render Verdana correctly (lots of kerning and spacing errors) and many others TrueType fonts. And for note, the exactly same Linux box (Slackware 12.2) can draw perfectly the Verdana on KDE 3.5 and GTK2 applications
