Can't wait to play this, just wondering tho, if its a full demo givin away, what does he plan to sell? how to make money when everyone has it? new mpas? would think there would be free maps available all over the place.

  2. Slackware and stuff on Slackware 7 Beta Out · · Score: 1

I've noticed a bunch of ppl saying how they started with like 3.0 and now at 4.0 or somewhat and just wondered why? I mean i started on 3.2, i'm still at 3.2, but its all glibc now with alot of upgrades from source.

Just wondering, because slackware doesn't really lend itself easily to upgrades, why restart from scratch? Doesn't it take alot of time to get it back to the way it was? I know mine would.

sure you take a u2w hard drive and you wont get 80 megs/sec, same with a UDMA/66 drive. point is the bus can handle it, so you could have say 4 20 meg/sec u2w drives before the controller becomes a bottleneck.

Also, dont forget the whole 15 devices a u2w card can support, compared to what, 2-4 for UDMA/66?

I wont begin to get into RAID implementations.

  5. native vs emulation? on Transmeta Awarded Another Patent · · Score: 1

um if most of the above comments are correct, saying it would run say native x86 instructions faster than a true x86 could do itself, that leads me to think maybe the reason they have Linus there would be to code a linux kernel that runs natively on the new transmeta chip? Now that would be nice :)

Today, Intel, Asus and a variety of other motherboard manufacturers have brought out new boards with the new clipper chip! This chip will improve your connectivity more than you could ever believe!

The company's say the new boards will only be $100 more than the originals but this is a small price to pay for such features.

On a side note: Them pesky crackers have sent out a program allowing anyone to get into a computer with the clipper chip installed, a patch was put out only 5 hours later, but was cracked again.
