    Coincidence. The real reason for the trading halt is that the Supreme Court has denied RIM's emergency appeal of the NTP patent verdict.

    True. I should have said that that CLAIM is a myth. Nobody really knows if the iPod can handle OGG or not. The great-grandparent post was stating it as fact and I was pointing out that it's conjecture from a former competitor with potential bias.

    If there are no viruses for MacOS X, then why do they make a version of Virex for OS X?

    Because average Jane/Joe user has been drilled to think that she/he needs anti-virus protection. It's all marketing.

    With the nano being so thin, they probably couldn't stack the screen on top of the jack. So it was either move the jack to the bottom or move the screen down.

    While a usage reporting tool might be a nice idea, the kernel folks better think long and hard before it's added and enabled by default.

    The rover has sensors that detect the tilt of the rover and will halt movement before it tips over. There's a whole section on NASA's website about navigation and the like.

    The Pancam, the highest resolution cameras, have 1024x2048 pixel CCDs.

    I've read the notice and there's no preset amount of money set aside so if you don't make a claim, Apple doesn't have to pay up. Therefore, no excess settlement money to give to a charitable cause.

    You're right though that not making a claim won't discourage the lawyers. The lawyers are paid no matter how many claims are filed.

    The problem is that they're going after Google, not the sites that are trying to profit from copyrighted material...

    Probably because it's easier to sue Google than it is the sites that are stealing images. Not to mention, Google has a lot more money than these other sites combined.

    Probably because Steve doesn't want to be upstaged anybody. He will want to show off any new hardware. It would have been interesting if Steve had a presentation at IDF, but that's not likely to happen.

    I'm sure that there a few of these processors running in Apple's labs.

    Google filed a registration statement that it's going to sell 14,159,265 shares. It hasn't done so yet. So, no, it's not $4bn richer. It will be (perhaps), just not right now.

    Writing Santorum unless you live in Pennsylvania isn't going to help. What would help is writing your own state Senators about your objection to the bill.

    Santorum hearing from residents outside of Pennsylvania will not change his mind. I'm not even sure hearing from residents inside of Pennsylvania would.

    You're correct that Mars Express photographed an ice lake in a crater. However, the Mars Express Orbitor is run by the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency, not the British. The British did have a lander attached to Mars Express named Beagle 2, which crashed.
