At work, I develop server-side applications in a Windows 7 environment and I'm still required to use the CL and batch file scripts occasionally. Why should it be any different for Linux, which has better, more flexible CLIs?
I have news for NewEgg: Lenova Thinkpad laptops suck. I use a fairly new one for work (not my decision) with Windows 7 installed on it. Its performance is sub-par and I often get a "fan error" when cycling power followed by an immediate shutdown. I've already had the laptop serviced once, which never fixed the "fan error" issue. BTW, I don't run linux or any other OS on it.
The more competition there is for MS Office, the better. MS Office has become a bloated POS over the years and I hate the new Ribbon interface. LibreOffice is currently my choice for office suite.
Given a choice between outlawing guns and having a sensitive listening device on every street corner that can listen in on conversations like Big Brother, I'd prefer to outlaw guns.
Android phones and tablets come with a stock browser but you certainly aren't limited to that alone. There are plenty of others available through Google Play including Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Dolphin and many more.
The USPS ran just fine for decades before they started fucking with it. Where else can you mail anything for less than a buck? UPS? FedEx? Nowhere. Which is exactly why they're trying to kill it off...
Once the USPS is gone, watch how much more it costs us to send things. I'm betting it'll only be a few weeks before UPS, FedEx, DHL, and all the other carriers arbitrarily raise their rates and blame it on the cost of gasoline.
Also, if the post office is gone, who will deliver to "remote" areas? Private carriers don't do it now. If you don't live in the city or suburbs, how will you get your mail?
Once a federal law goes into effect allowing tiered internet usage pricing, Mr Genachowski will quit his post as FCC chairman to take a high-paying top level lobbyist position for Comcast or one of the other major carriers. Why do I say that?...Because we've seen it before. These companies have the politicians in their pockets.
Its funny how some people don't mind if a big corporation like Google tracks you, or even sells your information (maybe like Facebook) but, if the GOVERNMENT does it, then its time to cry foul.
After seeing all these virus and malware problems with Android, who wants to use it anymore? You cannot even download from their app store without getting infected!
Just get an iPhone or Windows Phone 7 and be done with it. At least Apple and Microsoft knows something about security.
I'd mod you down if I could. IOS and OSX have malware, too.

"Computer scientists" and software engineers deal almost exclusively in software. Computer Engineers are the one's who do the above tasks.
Boston should have gone to a grid system, like Manhattan has, long ago.

Fuck Apple. I hope Apple dies a horrible death.
My first suggestion would be to remove the 8-track player, disco ball and bright-colored shag carpeting from your interior.
I think it would be awesome of Tivo filed a lawsuit against Time Warner and won.
With a Vulcan neck pinch, of course.
Would someone check if Hell has frozen over?

Consider getting earbuds with adjustable padding/size because everyone's ear canals are different.
We are talking specifically about Christianity and it's zealotry.
No, we're talking about a tiny subset of Christianity. Most Christians accept evolution.
I could swear the most recent Gallop Poles on the matter said different.

I didn't recommend anything, Anonymous Andy
Yes, use an iPhone ! Let the flames begin...
Because you'll never ever hear of any IPhone security issues...as long as you live under a rock.
I'd mod you down if I could, fanboy
There will always be desktop issues as long as multiple browsers exist for multiple hardware and software (OS) platforms.
Many sects still believe that God created man in his image.
don't count on it. Its a battle against a lifetime of religious indoctrination and a notion of creationism that has lasted for thousands of years.

DSL is not available for everyone. You must be within 3kilometers of the nearest central office.
