Qt's biggest advantage, next to a clean and consistent api, are it's cross platform abilities. Recently they merged QPA (formerly lighthouse) in the main develoment tree. This means that by reimplementing the QPA Classes on a given platform, that platform will run QT. There are already android and iOS build of the latest development tree in the wild. Basically this means that anything that can run a reasonably modern C++ compiler can be a target platform for QT.
Does anybody has a count of Qt's user base? (Google Earth, Photoshop, skype ). It's used on the server, on the desktop, embedded, mobile... It's by far the fastest way to build something that runs on Mac,Linux and Win32 without a hassle.
Also, I've read the wildest assumptions of making Qt build solely on Winwhatever platform. Has anybody ever peeked at the Qt source... It will be a mammoth task to strip the cross platform capabilities.
They're using it here at work for almost everything. Looks like a relic from the stoneage (Sapgui). Impossible to support with newer software, interfaces with close to nothing.
Here in Belgium, we have 5 local tv-channels and they broadcast a lot of local crap (bad dutch soaps, dumb-ass comedy,etc...). The only SF show is Voyager, and they are three years behind.... The rest of the channels (we have 29) are german, french, turkish etc.... Most of the shows are dubbed (ever watched star trek in turkish ?). Morpheus etc... is the only way to get my weekly dose of quality SF shows.
The sprites, which were actually very funny things to play with. They could be activated by poking
$ff into $d015
$d000 was sprite 0's x-position
$d001 was sprite 0's y-position
and so on...
so if you poked $d001 an $d000 with $ff you could see a sprite appear somwhere past the middle of your screen.
by poking $07f8-$07ff you could let the sprite data refer to a 64 byte data block somewhere in the first 16384 bytes of memory (bank 0)
for example poking $07f8 with $c0 let the sprite data start at 12288 or $3000. Filling $3000 to $303f with $ff gave you a massive square. Sprite data was encoded in three rows of 21 bytes. So poking $3000 with $0,$3001 with $ff and $3002 with $0, and so on....gave you a rectangle.
I came from the c64 underground, and then i got my hands on an amiga.... It was innovative.... As I continued my way into the lurkey business of coding, i've never found anything more innovative then the amiga cli.... You could actualy type something like format fd0 as msdos which worked...
Unfortunately i've had to change my amiga 1200 with a funky 68030 at 50 Mhz for a state of the art 486 66 Mhz (Win95 even wasn't out at that time). So, I trid, and i tried to get the same functionality.... Gone was Dopus, Gone was a useable cli, Gone was the proper, powerfull multitasking... Even the stereo sound didn't work properly....
PC Hardware Sucks.... It' s outdated even now.
Linux gave me back something of the power an Amiga "With capital A" used to give me (and added something to it even). So.... I've looked at the new Amiga, and I hope they will succeed. At least they made computing fun for a while.
LONG LIVE AMIGA
C= 4EVER
But..... on an amiga you only had to mark the disk as bootable. No command.com or io.sys or whatever. The whole os fits in a rom of 512 kB. (256 on pre 2.0 machines.) when you reset a dos machine, you have to reload io.sys, msdos.sys and command.com which is about 100 kB. the only thing you have is the command prompt then. on an amiga, the cli loaded in a nifty window. eat that ms-dos.
Almost any protocol that is usable on the internet can be used to transfer files in some way or another. (FTP,HTTP....). You can also use ICQ or IRC to get your music and other stuff. If they forbid napster, there will be another. At this moment, there are already other alternatives, like Gnutella, cuteMX, and so on. What napster does, is giving a front end to users who do not know how to transfer MP3's over the net, or like me, who are to lazy using alternatives. The technical implementation of napster with a central server, gives those who are against some way of control. Other alternatives let you stay more or less anonymous. MP3 can not be banned. It's to much of a standard nowadays.
IE can be removed. Someone started a project called win98 lite. It's a mixture between win95 and win98. I think it uses the win98 kernel or whatever they call it, and the win95 explorer. It's supposed to be more stable, which isn't very difficult. They install it by patching the.inf files supplied with the operating system.
If you want to go into space, become a buttler. Those billionaires will need someone to serve their drinks. Maybe in the future there will be Soyuz launches filled with caviar and champagne.
Check your facts.

I believe you mean The Mote in God's Eye
In dutch it's called zilverpapier. It's a pity it doesn't contain any silver.
And all those new and exciting shows and movies on TV.
SAP stands for
Schreck Angst und Panik
or
Software Aus Pakistan.

There's something called BILL workgroup server, and it acts as an exchange replacement.
Here is the url www.billworkgroup.org

They come with more functionality. Win95 OSR2 has nothing but the basics...

Pfff. That's really a long time ago...
Reading prior post brought it all back.
It's actually very simple. Change in system.ini following line: shell = explorer.exe to shell=gnome.exe(or something). No more start button.

it has to do with the kerberos 5 authentification dat windoze 2k uses. Turn off encrypted passwords in the registry. That does the trick.
I know one. It's in Dutch, but anyway.... http://www.tkfy.com/bunker/

Battlenet is the only reason why i still have a dual boot partition.

Never underestimate the bandwith of a truck filled with videotapes.
Rewrite kerberos, in a way thet win2000 can't access it. That will teach them.....not.
last time i saw Picard, he and Bill were getting along well.
Commodore 64s are the best systems out. they only need a 386 to run their tcp/ip stack

Possibly the finest science fiction novel.
Trashcans filled with unusable DVD's. What a bright future.
