    why are people here still on about ubuntu then?
    i wish someone could assure me mint is still the safe option for the paranoiac since ubuntu has definitely failed the mission completely (that paranoiac would be me), i'm referring to the free bit and the part where you dont just get spied on and sold out because you use something that cost you nothing

    how about mint? any alternatives? anyone ? any of the seasoned vets care to share something about that i'd be much obliged, something as easy to use as ubuntu but without the added .. well diminished value?
    any comments by people who know what they talk about would be very welcome, and i'm sure not just to this here lunatic

    i'd prefer just one as well, ubuntu will definitely not be it, they got more traitor tendency than m$ themselves since m$ never claimed not to be about the money, right.
    i need an OS that will play my games at full framerate, wine works for about (i didnt count exactly) 67% of my steam collection but not at full. Its up to the gamedevs for me, ill be needing windows 8, but only for that, i can see no other reason to buy it

    i thnk most of the non-mailers will be more likely to be of the indifferent-what's-it-to-me-kind, or just as likely not even know about it. Those things rarely make it to the six o clock news and i have a hunch in the uk that will be even less so. Not everyone is an information-junky, sadly.

    that's the only one right now, anything depends on that, i found the guy who calculated how many people the earth can sustain, i still havent found the one who calculated how much matter is available before the whole planet has turned to humans

    the repetition is exactly what makes the sales i'm afraid. That's kinda how pop channels work. A song can be teh ultimate suck but brainwashing seems to do the trick everytime. I suppose big artists can pay up front to promote until everyone gets stuck with the tune in their head and the ball goes rolling. Probably not the artists but the companies behind it, but i think that's how pop sales work mostly.

    the EU bureacracy does its best to chase all big business from europe asap but at least they got a few things right, like the right to re-sell your digital goods. Consumers need to be able to consume or their whole dated system goes to hell, right.
    i suppose that law could be easily extended to "yes, you can still sell your car like everyone has been able to for the last 200 years ? how old are cars actually i have no clue, probably something to do with the steam engine like all the rest)

    mhm, the only ones i hear it prediciting are CEO's trying to push their decade-old 'new' technology. I wouldnt give up my home diy-box for the world. I don't know how much a touchscreen keyboard costs if it has to work just as fast and efficient as an old cheap plastic one either. I don't see the box dying out any time soon really

    in case anyone answers to this, which i doubt since it's from days ago : please save me the you can't do that because it's wrong part. Any reply has to include an example of a company that actually paid the fine and sucked it up i.o. finding a 'solution' to avoid it, please don't mind if you do. I don't think that will have happened this side of reality yet

    excuse me twice for not using the edit button and being too lazy to find my other post ... let's be clear ... to me, it's not the religion in itself, it's the fanatics who are the criminals to say every muslim is a terrorist that's like blaming the crimes of the church of rome on every christian. To me the taliban, al qaeda, and the golden temple of rome are just as criminal, i'd jihad them back to the stone age all at once. I personally never knew a single muslim who was all that 'im gonna cut your head off because you're not on my side' and other fun stuff like that, and i've known a few. Most are just, well, as christian as the next christian as far as i can see, they just stick together more. There's more cohesion in their culture i dunno, maybe because most of them still feel strange in a strange land and band together. But when it comes to tolerance, i don't tolerate people who threaten others for being idiots. And i hope no one gives in because they're scared or this will never end

    respect goes both ways, threats to decapitate, 14 year olds blowing up embassies ... women getting stoned because they're raped, threatening people with death over a cartoon, burning books, destroying cultural heritage, throwing molotovs at newspaper offices because someone said something, no matter what it was?
    i hope we're on the same side where it comes to intolerance, and that goes both ways, everyone is getting sick of it... is that the same guy who offered 100k to kill the idiots who made that movie (was that even real?)

    not like you need a brain and a half to do callcenter jobs ... you get your questionnaire outlined, you get a session before every new inquiry or sale starts and the rest is up to your model behaviour on the phone. It's an exhausting job, really constantly convincing people not to hang up for eight hours a day. I never did the sale thing but i did some 'market research' , couple of times in a few places. It pays the bills but it's underpaid and draining. Unless you got the zombie mindset for it maybe.
