Can the average guy 'pretext' as well, or will he get punished?
People have done this for decades. People pretend to be someone other than who they are to find out where a spouse is having lunch when they suspect an affair.
I see nothing wrong with this. The right to privacy is not a right to not get caught.
What are his beliefs on ANY issue that effects this country? The only one that I can really infer is that he would be opposed to the DOJ trying to break up the Microsoft monopoly.
Economics? Social policy? Taxes? Foreign trade? Terrorism? Foreign oil addiction?
In an instant they can be silently corrupted without you knowing. They don't have a write protect.
I guess that you've never seen one of the adapters that allow you to convert SD into USB. If you have a SD card with a write protect tab, you can make a bootable USB drive that can be write protected?
I have also seen USB flash drives with a write protect switch. If you look, you can find one.
The war for the meaning of the word "hacker", but come on now. If whatever you're doing is not for the satisfaction of the accomplishment, you're not really a hacker.
It's kind of like the distinction between a slut and a whore. Sluts do it because they enjoy it, whores do it for financial gain.
The only possible reason to want to curtail freedom of speech is to maintain a tighter control on a domestic population, which falls right in line with the current Republican agenda, so it's no surprise that that's what he wants, but I'm surprised even he would come right out and say it.
I'm not going to claim that the current crop of Republicans are innocent, but were you awake when we had Democratic control of the government? They were just as eager to reign in people's freedom.

frack - from Battlestar Galactica. Similar meaning to "fuck", but its use by children in a 1978 TV show suggests that it carries no more social weight than "rats" or "darn" within the universe of the show.
European laws seems to be a bit more on the Employees side in such cases.
It's politics. In the US, the party that is most backed by big labor just took over the congress. I think that this is IBM's way of making the issue disappear before any congressional hearings are held.
Even if I was offered to become a first man to set foot on Mars, I would refuse. I don't understand the attraction.
Have you ever been the first one to make love to a virgin?
It's kind of the same thing. Even though it's not quite ready for prime time, it's nice to be the first one there. Everyone else that comes after you gets to see all of your footprints from when the landscape was pristine.
Sure, I wouldn't mind taking a lunar or martian vacation and staying at the holiday inn, but I'd rather get there before the rush.
Unless they were paying two of these indians $0.05 per day to do the work, they have most likely spent more money on the project than they'll ever recoup by selling the software.
It's certainly disingenuous to suggest that Apple cares where others do not then, isn't it?
During the mid/late 1990s through 2001, I worked at a computer dealer that sold Apple, Compaq & HP.
Occasionally a customer had an issue that required attention from the manufacturer. Apple was by far the best at dealing with such issues. Maybe I exaggerated, but I stand by the original point.
From my experience, Apple's no different than anyone else there.
I suppose that it was hit or miss. In the customer support arena. I have no doubt that some of the people there didn't give a damn either way, but a lot of the ones I had to deal with were quite helpful.
I'm curious though, what is "the least important reason why Apple survived the dark times" that Dell and Toshiba are going to reproduce?
Looking back, I see that my wording was quite sloppy, but I was referring to the decision to candy coat the product lineup.
[ Yes, I am joking. I'm quite sure Mr. Lo is brilliant -- just maybe a touch too honest.:-) ]
I suspect that he's just a forward thinker. If his software starts selling a company's stock like mad, even if it's a decision based upon sound data, he could be sued into oblivion when that stock tanks.
I think he just doesn't want to be the next generation's Kenneth Lay.
Apple Computer is widely credited with long ago shattering conventions that had for years dictated how a computer had to feel and look. Windows-based personal computers generally lagged far behind in fusing function with form in ways that consumers found exciting. But that is changing, executives from mainstay computer companies like Dell and Toshiba say.
It wasn't the Life Savers style of Apple's machines that made them good. It was the combination or hardware, OS and customer support that spoke English and actually gave a damn.
Dell and Toshiba are only going to reproduce the least important reason why Apple survived the dark times. And when it doesn't help them, they still won't get it.
Either fraud is illegal or it is not. I am sick of the government carving out exceptions for things for itself and its cronies.
IANAL, but I can read and it's not fraud to lie about your name.

I agree. We should ditch 'i' and start teaching "frack" as acceptable vocabulary.
Schools don't teach "fuck" as acceptable vocabulary, but I don't see you decrying it's use on the grounds that it's not a real word.
But since in both cases, you can do both simultaneously (not absolutely simultaneously, but you get the idea), this proves nothing.
Why lie? I'm not running for office.
LK
No. Tell it to the Chinese embassy, first thing Monday morning. ;-)
Given the Chinese gov't willingness to fuck the people, I think that it qualifies as a "significant other".
LK
'i' is taught in schools. Frack is not (because it's not a real word, nope, no more than gajillion).
Schools teach plenty of things that aren't true and fail to teach many things that are. What does that prove?
So you're the over caffeinated troll?
I'm neither afraid to post while logged in, nor to use actual profanity.
Just look at my recent posting history.

Splurge and pay for memberships to all of the adult sites that you have ever wanted to.
Do a LOT of masturbating now, before the arthritis takes away the ability.
LK
Of course, it would also undermine the capitalist underpinnings of the internet since porn and spam go hand in hand.
Yeah, that's it. No one would EVER visit a pornographic website if those crafty spammers didn't trick them into it.
Tell that lie to your "significant other" if you need to, but we here know better.
