When the CIA's secret gadget-makers invented a listening device for the Asian jungles, they disguised it so the enemy wouldn't be tempted to pick it up and examine it: The device looked like tiger droppings.
Vietnam vets have talked about these for years, I also heard stories that they disguised radio beacons as tiger droppings as well. Special forces could call in air strikes and guide the fighter/bombers to the target with a beacon that looked like tiger poop.
So there really are people around that haven't heard about automatic dependency resolvers such as apt, yum, up2date, yast, urpmi or portage...even more amazing is that can be moderated insightful.
When is the last time you used urpmi? For me it's been about a week, and it sucks.
Composite = video. Yes, usually if you're using a composite cable to hook up video, you're using "stereo" hookups, but not necessarily (see NES...)
If you use the composite input for video, it would follow that you'd use the composite input for audio. The card comes with a stereo mini plug to RCA adapter.
It plug into the "sound in" on your sound card. You would get stereo input if you were using it.
My Girlfriend works at a place that provides WiFi access for about that price. If I was looking to do some downloading without the MPAA or RIAA knowing who I was, it would be worth it. I can download 10 CDs worth of music in an hour. I can download 2 or 3 movies in an hour.
You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. I'd like to purchase an evening with an escort for you. I've been looking for something like these drivers for no less than two years.
wouldn't it be great for the OS community if we could provide a law to facilitate tax cuts to companies who give to OS, or at least make it mandatory to for-profit organizations to give a certain minimum amount and take it out of their taxes?
No asshole! Free Software/Open Source is about "giving", not taking. Forcing someone to contribute to a community effort is Communism. I'm sure that we're all still aware of how that doesn't work.
Maybe you should listen to RMS or ESR a little closer.
I have a brooktree card with a temic tuner, it is near impossible to find a Win XP driver that will work with it. As a result, my GF gave me an ATI TV Wonder VE card for xmas.
The software is pretty good. It will download your local cable TV listings and you can schedule recordings based upon your local content provider.
I couldn't tell you the number of times I tried to install something and it fails because I was missing "X-Widget-2.41.so.1", so I try to install that "X-Widget-2.41" package and the "X-Widget-2.41-devel" package and they fail because they are missing several other depends as well.
Linux stability is fine. The GNU software stability is fine. We need a better way to install and maintain software.
From the article: The researchers, Regina Barzilay, an assistant professor in the department of electrical engineering and computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Lillian Lee, an associate professor of computer science at Cornell University, said that while the program would not yield paraphrases as zany as those in the Monty Python sketch, it is fairly adept at rewording the flat cadences of news service prose.
Two women came up with this! Why doesn't it surprise me in the least that women are officially researching ways to automate the process of saying the exact same thing in an infinite number of different ways?
Isn't this the way those trashy love novels are written?
Wow, it must take a hugh shell script to turn "Mary wanted the big strong muscle man to solve all of her problems. Henry, the big strong muscle man, was horny. They had unprotected sex. Everything was perfect from then on."
Imagine what that could to to a Hello World program.
you don't understand, once the sender does this there will be some type of key. If the client doesn't see this key in the headers or wherever then it will be seen as spam by the reciving client.
How do you know if the key is valid?
Why can't a spammer just make up a false key? Does the client check it mathematically? How long does that take? Why not just delete the spam manually (like we all do now) if it's still going to take time to filter it out?
The elderly are unfortunately often the target of overt scams because of this very fact, and because they often have retirement nest eggs.
The elderly are also stubborn. The elderly are also a population with a high percentage of voters. So it would even be hard to pass laws to protect them from themselves.
Imagine AARP or the Silver Foxes response to a law the limited the ability of older people to move money overseas.
Actually for a first-time computer user you wouldn't be able to argue that they know Windows already. That's what first-time generally means.
Fine then, if you want to be the SOLE source of support for a computer, feel free to give your "first time" friends and relatives linux. At least with Windows, they can go to a local computer store and pay those people for help.
Some service calls are definitely better than others, eh?
One time I was at my GF's place and her sister, and her sister's girlfriend came over so I could finish fixing the sister's girlfriend's computer, I was working in my GF's bedroom and all three of them came up to check on me. After the other two women left, I told my GF that I couldn't wait to get back to work and tell everyone that I spent an hour in my GF's bedroom with her and a two lesbians!
Unfortunately, the most fun I had during that hour was in playing around with her computer...
I understand wanting to advocate alternatives at all times, but come on now Rob.
There is no way in HELL that I'd consider giving a linux machine to a friend or relative who is light on technical ability.
I am already on call to fix the computers of my friends and family, my girlfriend, my girlfriend's best friend, my girlfriend's sister, and my girfriend's sister's girlfriend.
I'd easily double the amount of free support that I've have to give if I gave someone a linux machine. Even if most of the calls ended up being "No, I can't help you install 'Barbie goes to the beach' because the version that you have is for Windows", that is still crap that I don't want to deal with.
I'd rather burn a disk with Ad Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy and give it to people than to have to educate people on a system that they know nothing about.
So many people these days don't know a thing about DOS, so how can you expect them to take the time to learn bash? More times than I would like to remember, I had to use the console to fix a problem on one of my linux machines that just couldn't be done through X. Sometimes the problem was that I couldn't launch X.
Windows is the devil that most people know. As awful as the security is, as awful as Microsoft's business practices are, Windows is the top dog and most mundanes don't care about anything but being able to check the weather, get email, bring up a few web pages, and play some games. For most people, that is easier to do with Windows.
The US still has c. 37,000 troops stationed in S. Korea, around half a century after the ceasefire there...
People are still dying at the DMZ. Ask anyone who has spent time there, recently, about what happens when you fall asleep on guard duty.
The "war" my be over, but the killing is not.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a woman, and this is, sadly, the largest DDR demographic.
She was definately a woman. As I hear it, she's working as a "dancer" these days.
Well, the last time I saw a NEW game and said "WOW" was when I saw people playing Dance Dance revolution...
You'd find yourself saying WOW if the first time you saw someone playing DDR, it was an 18 year old Double D cup.
Back in May, I did.

Did he save it?
I'm sure that it would have brought in a pretty penny on ebay.

Yeah, she'll find another boyfriend too. One that won't get her arrested.
Unlike you, I don't have a problem with finding women. If she were to choose to not be with me, I'd have a replacement for her inside of a week.

Would it still be worth it when the RIAA sued the place into oblivion for piracy and your girlfriend lost her job?
I have faith in her, she'd find another job.
So now they have your credit-card information as well as the time and location that you downloaded the files.
Pay-For-Wifi isn't going to be the protection you desire.
No, I already thought of that.
You can buy a gift card with cash and use the gift card to purchase WiFi access.

Beware that this version of the card is not stereo, but is usually fairly cheap.
The card does not have a Stereo TV tuner, but if you are connected to a composite source, you will get stereo.

e-mail, emac, ecommernce, etc etc... for 1990's technology.
imac, iRiver, iTones, iReady etc for 2000's technology.
The eMac came after the iMac. Time to start working on a new letter theory buddy.
