...greed. If TWC didn't charge ridonculous prices for crappy service after establishing their monopoly, there wouldn't be a market for greenlight. As it is greenlight is a better deal. If TWC wants to compete, they need to, (duh?) be competitive?
They are literally trying to screw people with their low value offerings. Sorry to say it but bandwidth is now a commodity and to be competitive you need to cut your margins and be competitive.
If you can't or won't do that, you deserve to go out of business. Lobbying legislators for what amounts to illegal price protection is bullshit.
They'll get what they want though, since republicrats run everything and they are getting their pockets lined by TWC. As usual the taxpayer will get screwed by greasy career politicians.
My x's brother blew a years worth of university tuition playing WoW. He's now "recovering" and going to community college. That is permanent damage and a significant chunk of (directly out of his parent's pockets) change down the drain.
A lot of brick and mortar universities have online degree programs that carry the same accreditation as their brick and mortar side.
Whether or not a given class requires the physical presence kinda depends on the class. Chemistry, biology etc yea, you need to be there but a lab for a computer science course, not so much.
As well some people have full time jobs and want to get/finish their degree. We all know that the knowledge you gain in school is pretty much useless beyond teaching you to think, so I can't really see how being there is going to get you much of an advantage, academically.
Socially, fraternities are probably what you are missing out on, which is a huge deal. But there are a lot of networking sites and groups now which you can build on over time which are a good substitute for the rest of it. If you are in a frat you will always have an advantage over someone that isn't.
I've gotten my last two jobs via social networking so it's no joke. I've never gotten a job using contact made in college. Not one...
I run in cross trainers. Interestingly enough the "right" shoes for me were near the bottom of the price range. I don't run competitively so they are perfect. They were wide enough and very comfortable.
I needed something I could run in and train. Since I do it to increase fitness and be healthy support is more important than that last 5% of speed. Not twisting my ankle and running a few miles a day (on weight training off days) was my primary goal.
The "correct" way to choose shoes is to go to a store with a treadmill that has fitness trainers there to do a gait analysis, and tell them what your goals are.
Often the best shoes for most people are some of the cheapest. Price is not how you should choose your shoes;) At such a specialty store they are more interested in picking the right shoe for you so you'll come back and hopefully tell your friends about them.
I don't live in the suburbs and I was riding the bus till this stuff started happening. I was born and raised on the mean streets of Baltimore city and that's where I bought my house. I hate driving to work but I like my safety more than I hate driving.
They need to fix this problem before I'll even consider riding the bus again. Maybe it takes a cop on every bus. At that point are you really saving anything with mass transit? You need to pay someone 65-80k a year to babysit students on every bus?
The success of mass transit depends on the riders adhering to the social contract (mainly not beating the crap out of people) and they simply don't so mass transit won't work here for anyone except people that have no other choice.
So blame it on the whiteness and snobbery suburban white people if you like, but I blame it on retards that beat their fellow passengers up. Lets be realistic and stop blaming the victims. They didn't create the atmosphere of fear where you take your life into your hands by simply getting on a bus.
You think a soccer mom is getting on a bus, or letting her kids ride one, where this happens if she can drive her SUV? No fing way.
Dude if we had a subway like NYC and LIRR, I wouldn't drive either;) Along with being slow, people tend to get their asses kicked a lot for being the wrong color on Baltimore mass transit.
I've done contract work in NYC. That system should be the model for the whole country. I _never_ drive to NYC and there's enough police around that it's reasonably safe.
In MD the bus driver just ignores the situation while you are getting pummeled, and didn't see nothin'. Screw that I'm drivin LOL.
>"Psychological addiction" is a joke. Label it what it really is - poor impulse control
Tell it like it is! This is the same issue that causes people to eat half a pound of fat for fourthmeal, then blame it on a food addiction or say their workout program doesn't work because they are genetically disposed to being fat./nosympathy
Self control is a dying art and people will blame the lack thereof on anything but the person in the mirror.
Which is why exercise is important. It relieves stress and normalizes how fast your body burns calories much more than relying on environmental stress does.
Aliquis is right. You need to eat no more than what you burn, however, exercise is an important part of that equation since it tends to regulate your metabolic rate better than inaction and apathy does.
Simply putting the fork down as soon as the hunger pain goes away will usually do it for weight loss, but to actually get healthy, you need exercise too. Put 2/3 of what you normally eat on your plate and stop there. No seconds. If you aren't losing weight go to 1/2.
Don't try to guess how many calories you've eaten, simply stop as soon as you aren't hungry.
I lost 30lbs that way before joining the gym. I go 5x a week, run 3 miles on cardio days, and I'm not obese any more. It took all of 6 months to get here. It only took 3 months and some self control to lose 30lbs at 2.5 pounds a week.
At this point, I can't imagine not going to the gym 5 days a week. When I have to miss a day I get very stressed about it.
Make all the excuses you want, it's not going to prolong your life or get rid of your gut;)
LOL if they knew what it took to do HTML "right" they'd be a little more respectful.
I know I am. I'm a scripter/coder person. I spend more time getting html right than I do dealing with the database or any other part of my job, mainly because I'm a coder, not a designer. I've worked with good designers in the past...
I have a lot of respect for people that can write good xhtml compliant HTML in as few lines as possible, do it very quickly, and make the end result look fantastic. 95% of people can't/don't;)
Dissing them is pretty elitist, especially considering it's a whole different skillset which is just as demanding as "real" coding.
You'll wish you had one around if you end up in a small shop like the one I'm in.
Yep and when Clinton was elected he "...After Republicans won control of Congress in 1994, Clinton vehemently fought their proposed tax cuts..."
Sorry dude but screwing the people of this country out of their money and wrecking the economy was a bipartisan effort. Blaming it on R or D alone is rather stupid, like jellyfish stupid.
You've got to realize that the republicrats are one party with 2 heads then you will begin to understand. The two party system is an illusion created to polarize us and give us all something to fight against.
The sooner everyone realizes this, stops being sheeple, and votes out the crotchrot in DC, on both sides of that imaginary fence, the better off we'll all be.
An even better comprimise is to stop spending so much freaking money on social programs for lazy people, pork barrel crap, unnecessary wars, funding private corporate infrastructure, bailing out lobbying firms, banks (and other poorly run businesses) and earmarks.
We have enough taxes. More taxes are not ok or viable unless you are a brainless moron. Video game companies get taxed on their profits. They are already taxed. What, $60 a pop isn't expensive enough? Geez.
Nope. It's source code. It's not a program til the browser loads it and is interpreting the markup and script. The file your browser downloads is called "source code". Programs are compiled source code.
Arguably what runs on a server to produce the markup is the program, but not til it's executing, and this is updated on the server, not the client.
R & D is what got us into this huge mess. It took both parties. Remember that. The only way to solve our problems is to follow Einstein's advice:
"You cannot solve a problem with the same type of thinking that created it in the first place."
Vote against the incumbents in every election, all of them, until every elected office is turned over. *That* is change. Most of congress and the senate have been in their seats for 20+ years. They are the ones that have taken this country to the brink. It's been a bipartisan effort. Blaming one party or the other is vacuously stupid so stop it. It's career politicians no matter what the party.
We need term limits in the legislative branch. As voters we can impose those limits. Do it and stop bitching and blaming. Look in the mirror for once.
>He was an arrogant little prick, too.
It's a good thing there are no arrogant professors or TAs.
...greed. If TWC didn't charge ridonculous prices for crappy service after establishing their monopoly, there wouldn't be a market for greenlight. As it is greenlight is a better deal. If TWC wants to compete, they need to, (duh?) be competitive?

I told my team mate this would happen as soon as I heard the news about Oracle buying Sun on Monday. I had NO idea it would happen this fast.
Monty should call the new project OurSQL =D

yea blaming anything on either democrats or republicans is pretty fing stupid. It took a bipartisan effort to fuck this country.
Washington needs a total enema. Everyone in an elected office needs a lifetime ban for what they've done.

LOL MySQL == OracleLite (tm)
> ...at least when it comes to IT business, not have suspected that Oracle would be in play for Sun?
Given that Oracle on Sun is the best way to run Oracle, and Sun was for sale, this shouldn't have surprised anyone.
I run in cross trainers. Interestingly enough the "right" shoes for me were near the bottom of the price range. I don't run competitively so they are perfect. They were wide enough and very comfortable.

Even if Obama screws up everything else he touches, having the sense to lift the ban on stem cell research makes him a success in my eyes.
This ban was probably the single most destructive thing Bush did, not just for us, but all of mankind.
Other countries are light years ahead of us on SC research because of this.
I can't wait til the people against it get their lives saved, or can walk again, because of advances made through stem cell research.
