One day, computer vision will be so good that you can give it a single photograph, it'll grind away for a few minutes and create an entire 3d world containing every object in the photograph, a mesh of the terrain, etc. You'll load it up in your favourite 3d game and apples will act like apples and cars will act like cars, etc. You'll be able to feed a 100 minute film into a much bigger machine running a much more complicated collection of algorithms and it will automatically generate a 3d world where all the same events happen in the world as happened in the film. You can choose how you want to participate in the action and your actions will have consequences on the plot line that are dynamic and non-fragile. 3Dbasic anyone?
Basically this means a faster internet, yes?
because if this method can be used to convert photons into electrons quicker it means there will be less internet bottle necks because the backbone is fibre but is controlled by electronic computers
Sun claims that Java is an open "standard".
If, after a decade, nobody has managed to produce an independent, compliant, commercial implementation, then that suggests that doing so is too hard. Maybe Sun's specifications are incomplete, maybe the specs are so complex that they are too hard to implement, maybe Sun keeps changing the platform too quickly.
Why does it matter? If Sun were to go belly-up tomorrow, there would be no compliant commercial Java implementation left. if sun was to go belly up tomorrow then the OPEN jdk project code under GPL will be put up somewhere else probably
thank your hardware for that not your programs
*it is more stable then 10 yrs ago
*it works faster then 10yrs ago
*it has more memory then 10yrs ago
that is why the programs are more stable
(some of it might have something to do with your OS but I can't say that here can I......)
> and behaves like any other Java SE 6 implementation
Does this mean it consumes 2 GB of RAM to display "Hello World" ??? No it wouldn't
JAVA is NOT SLOW
it can do execute an endless nothing loop faster then C (I have seen evidence of this but can't find it now:-( )
I agree , although for most windows users if you want (free) privacy you have to install X number of programs for gpg e.g. I think for the common user this is to much of not only a hassle but a technical burden gpg for example.
1.Install gpg4win
2. Thunderbird (or equivilent free email client)
3.) Extensions for email ( case Thunderbird)
4.) make keys
5.) configure programs, get other users pub key etc etc.
This is to much for normal Joe by step 3 or 4 the normal Joe has given up.
If this would be automised or somehow integrated into a email client , I think we would see email encryption more widely used. Although through the automation process problems can arise, security hole here , and their, because all these process's have to be linked automated etc. etc
Whereas with a nix distro, most users are tech orientated, after adding the correct repos or (with some distros these things are even default installed gpg for e.g.) then the only thing left is to configure, which really is pretty painless to the tech user who knows what hes doing in the first place. the only problem with email encryption is you have to somehow give the key to the recipient and how are you going to encrypt that?
get your computers/routers implementation of the RIP protocol so it routes around Sweden
you will probably have to get it to do a whois lookup at every stage to confirm the IP address is not Swedish and this might slow your connection down
you don't have/need to re-install Firefox every 4weeks it dose that its self and copy's all setting and extensions to the newversion wilst removing the old version
it is actually very efficient and it is faster then IE it also keeps it more secure than IE
though it would be smart for its spell checker not to mare Firefox as a spelling mistake!
it's expensive, but it's worth it. it is not worth it you can do that yourself if it cost more then $50 worth of your time to downgrade vista you are a very sad person
Regulation should protect me from bodily harm and injury, not from information that's mine to begin with.
Sorry Tom, but the information isn't yours. Much of "your" DNA is patented. If you don't intend to pay the licensing fees, then you should expect to receive a C&D shortly.
I have now patented all the human DNA that separates humans from chimps if you don't want to pay licensing fees please remove it form your body!:D
That is just another extream getting a doctors note (not getting the doctor to do it, just getting the note) dose not prove the DNA is yours and thus has nothing to do with getting a note.

there are volunteers who have been working on this for some time here .0 is based on!
which is what JDK 7

the JDK7 project builds it source from it and adds in all the propitiatory software it is still in beta
interesting article i didn't know that!

The information in anyone's genetic code is said persons personal property.
what you said is like saying that your computer is not your personal property because someone else has the a similar computer
