Ah the memories.
As they're not very clear I'll ask: couldn't you run this alongside Gnome 1.x, so you had the task bar and the dock?
I used to use WindowMaker about 12 years ago, even had LiteStep & WindowBlinds on my Windows box to emulate it as much as possible.
When Gnome 2 disappears completely I'll be in the market for a new/old window manager, I might just have to go back in time a bit!
I'd need to see some citation regarding Gail or Dweez sending cease and desist letters to bands covering Frank's stuff...sounds like baloney to me. However, I do agree with his (and subsequently their) right to protect what is done with his music and his name.
"Due the current climate with regard to permissions/legalities of performing FZ musics, the band have decided (at last) to spend the quality time they spend together working on original material, rather that play livel" http://www.muffinmen.co.uk/
A very good band from England who have had a fair few Zappa musicians play with them over the last twenty years. They were even told to not use the image of Zappa on a poster at one point.
Here in England, mobile company Orange has been charging for paper bills for a while now.
The transition happened with little or no notice for me (my account still being at my parents house, I never read the bills, so I can't say 100% that they notified me) which is rather annoying, but it was worse for my partner.
She recieved an SMS from them to say they would start charging for paper bills (statement still comes free) and there was an option to opt-out (from a non-spam source) which she did.
lo and behold, full paper bills still came, with a charge, that wasn't refunded.
Worse still (if only a shade off-topic), they've been charging for delivery reports for 3 years, making their "free unlimited texts" rather dubious. I know not everyone uses them, but it's a bugger for me, as often I need to know the message has arrived!
Nah, they'll get nothing back, the invalidity of the Act is coming across as more of an "oh no, I left the iron on" situation, it can't stop the house-fire. Would be interesting to see if anyone tries to seek compensation though.
Personally, even when I was 7, I could walk down to the local video rentals and take out a 15, or 18 certificate, looking back it seems amazing, but I guess that was the 80's!
Skype currently runs on the N800 etc Internet Tablets (which don't handle calls or SMS), not on the average cellphone
It's a dream, but a Linux friendly Nokia, that could handle apps such as skype could mean people on bad/expensive/silly tarrifs have the ability to use skype from a normal cell/mobile phone, thus eliminating a lot of cost.
Though, mentioning the idea to the world at large gives cell companies a headstart into stopping such developments!
Still, would be nice to see 'Nokibuntu' or something one day!

Would I be taking bait to point out that this country hasn't had a remotely socialist government since at least the 1970s?

... there was one exception and actually I saw it last week.
And that was...?!?
Sorry, just curious!
The full list I remember is:
Right, that's my off-topic(ish) distraction over with.
I had one earlier, have you seen it?

The sensations range from a thrill (for the exhibitionist) to anxiety ("normal" people) all the way to psyche scarring shame (for the repressed).

Imagine, a full Linux install (at least on phones like the N95 etc), running skype over wifi... I don't think the phone companies would like that.
