How about rather than delaying the switch to digital broadcasts we do the switch on time and if you don't have a converter box already, and didn't get a coupon yet, just make the people who procrastinated send in a mail in rebate rather than receiving a coupon. I believe a major reason for giving you a hassle when returning an item without a receipt is if it's common practice then you can buy an item on sale one week and return it the next week for full price effectively turning a profit for yourself. Also you could buy it at Walmart for $20 less and return it to Best Buy and make $20 on it. That's primarily why they want a receipt; they don't want to refund you more money than you actually paid for it in the first place.

I have to agree. The summary is particularly bad in this case. It says three managers suggested he change his name. If you RTFA nobody suggests he change his name and the three managers the summary says told him to change his name actually agreed that needing to change his username was absurd but couldn't help him and pushed him to other managers (actually the article says supervisors) that simply never followed up or called him back.
So Verizon just never followed up and all the supervisors he talked to tended to agree that he should be able to use his name. This is almost the exact opposite of the summary. Seems Verizon simply failed to follow up or call the guy back.

While I agree that our elected officials shouldn't be going on vacation I have to disagree that unemployment is at an all-time high. Unemployment as of today is 5.7%. Over the past 50 years the median has been 5.5% and the mean has been 5.6% so hardly an all-time high. Below are a list of years sorted from highest to lowest in which unemployment was higher.
No mention of actual cost as far as I can tell. It's twice as efficient but does it cost 100 times more or twice as much? The former probably makes it far less useful, the latter would be great.

If true and you set aside the ability to count objects and extrapolate into other areas numbers are useful how do they give directions for instance? Go some paces east then more paces north and so on and you end up where? Then follow those directions backwards and you won't arrive at your starting point.
Do they have a concept of time? It seems you need numbers for that. I'm more sunrises older than my one son who is some sunrises older than my other son. I guess it's possible time is irrelevant to them but seems to me without numbers it's hard to do just about anything.
I don't know if it's a similar problem or not but I had a DI-624 a few years ago that rebooted constantly and I sent it in under warranty and got another one. Then that one started acting up and through multiple levels of tech support they finally determined that my 2.4 GHz wireless phone was setting too close to the router and since wifi was also at 2.4 GHz they recommended switching to a different channel. That fixed the problem for me.
Where I work we had IE 7 a couple years ago but the corporate intranet didn't work properly or IT didn't want to support it or something so I'm forced to use IE 6. I couldn't update IE if I wanted to on the computer where I work.
I use firefox at home but I go to quite a few websites during my lunch break. Unless they're filtering out IP's from corporate domains I suspect the results of the study are skewed by users surfing while at work.
