    It isn't native, it just looks kind of native. I read somewhere that the swing "open" dialog offers like 20% features of the real windows one. SWT can do native widgets though.

    No one installs windows or installs drivers themselves. You buy the whole product as i did with my ThinkPad and it just works out of box. In any case, for windows drivers are not an issue. Hell, how can they be if everyone supports windows?

    could it be that the demand for an OS which ist fast on 512MB is not great enough? could it be that to make such optimizations would cost more than the increase in revenue and hence a resource misallocation? i don't know the answers for sure, but microsoft employs probably the smartest guys on the planet who make decisions based on exactly this kind of questions, so i suppose if they do something, they have a reason to do so. contrary, if you base your decisions on anything but the market demand (ideology, gut feeling, etc.), what you get is 1% market share.

    MS is not a charity, if people are willing to pay for Windows, why give it away? If people are willing to test your software free of charge, why pay for it? Nah, this has been repeated here over and over, but some people seem not to be able to grasp the principle, by which the market and businesses operate. To do anything other than profit maximization ultimately leads to resource waste.

    How good i got my Thinkpad which costs $1000 in the US for â1500 here in Germany while those "large rebates" were still in place (this is in a country where people on average are 30% poorer than in the US ). Hope those legislators of ours impose some "fairness tax" as soon as possible so that next time i can pay â2K and get rid of all those guilt for buying superior products.

    I have been using Logitech VX revolution for over a year now and also tried this cordless mighty mouse on couple of occasions and for me logitech is far better in terms of build quality and ergonomics. You may also want to look an VX Nano if you are left-handed or want a smaller usb receiver. Another great thing about logitech is that when i managed to damage my usb receiver they sent me another one free of charge without asking any questions.

    yeah, guys here on slashdot know what is better for everyone including artists. if artist were so fascinated of this whole torrent thing, why would they sign contracts with labels? why don't they release their contents directly on torrents instead of the iTunes store? also could it be that people here on slashdot are predominantly socialists/commies/leftists?

    If i don't return purchases and don't get my account blocked, why would i care about DRM? I do care about price though and if say DRM makes books cost 50% of what the would have costed without DRM, then i am for it. most problems you complain here on the slashdots day in and day out are not really problems for the vast majority of consumers.
