If you are unimaginative to see the possibilities of Kinect then don't assume everyone else is. As the hardware and software improves, Kinect will do much more than just gaming. It could be used in cars to detect pedestrians, among other endless possibilities.
How does FreeBSD compare to Darwin? How much did Darwin divert from FreeBSD? A lot of technologies in OS X like GCD have been ported to FreeBSD and vice versa.
My SSD is only for the OS and most used Applications, everything else is stored on a network drive that is mirrored in 3 different machines. If my SSD buys the farm right now I will lose nothing of importance.

Microsoft employs some of the brightest minds in the industry, just look at the amazing work done by Microsoft Research, it just seems to be unable to monetize and/or properly market its innovations which makes them seem reactive instead of leading. XBox, Windows Phone and Zune are excellent products in their own merits but they way Microsoft markets them make them seem as if they are copying the market leader. They also fail to stick to their products and lack a consistent strategy, they quit on Zune why too soon and then there is their development platforms and technologies.net, Silverlight, Win32, WPF and now they are moving to HTML5 and JavaScript.
SPARC T4 maybe late but not too little, it may only succeed in delaying the migration to Intel, AMD and IBM, but it will be more than capable to match them and by the time the T5 is out -if Oracle commits to it- Oracle will start to eat into the other players.
