Shifting is similar, in that a lever is moved in most cases, but the specifics of which way to move it, where it is located, and the need for a third pedal are not standard. There are some cars and trucks that have a column mounted shifter. There are some with a floor mounted one. In exotic cars there are shift pedals, IIRC. And then from there, there are manual and automatic versions of these, and various patterns even for the same general type of transmission (eg 5 speed manual), and for manuals, a range of gears (3-7). Unsynchronized manuals are a bit more different. Finally, some shifters are not labeled, or the label has worn off from use.
The kids won't have much to lose, but they will have a very expensive platform to break. A Game Boy was very rugged, probably for this reason. Somehow, I don't see the iPad surviving as well.
After having used ChromeOS on a flashdrive for about 30 minutes, I would take the pliers and squeeze the hell out of the disk. After my desire for destruction had been filled, I would go back inside and take the rest of my meds, so that I may rid myself of whatever other rage I have left.
It actually was meant as a joke, and was modded such for a time, but then someone thought it was interesting, and there we are. It does make you wonder, though.
I have the latest Firefox, and I get the real address, no redirector when I right click and copy the URL. The same for Chrome. Both of the tests were done on Windows, but I have no doubt that it would be the same on other platforms.
I have a feeling that he's in the US, probably even working in DC, laughing at how he has managed to be free for years. He probably is working at a StarBucks by the White House. It sure beats the hell out of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region, and no one would suspect it.
Nuclear power has had lots of subsidies, such as heavy governmental involvement in research, that I think would go a ways to offset whatever costs fossil fuels can externalize.
I don't know about the others, but that whole sun thing doesn't like me very much. I'd much rather stay inside, even with no porn. I've got a command center to run!
It may be in the doctor's best interest to treat the symptoms and keep the disease going for some time, but the patient (and insurance company and government, if the patient receives medical money from them) has an incentive for actual treatment. If the patient does not feel as if he is getting any better, he has the option of leaving, which helps to keep the doctors in line. I have done this myself to doctors that I feel are not helping me recover, but only hacking away at the branches and not striking ot the root of the problem.
This mechanism has been weakened in the modern era, though, because the one who determines whether or not the doctor is good or not is often only paying indirectly nowadays (either through insurance or government). The patient doesn't directly see the costs, and therefore has less incentive to seek out better care, If the illness is not severe enough.
To steal will deprive someone else of property, while you gain it yourself. Downloading the ebooks does not deprive anyone of property. Information, by its very nature, is not scarce once it has been discovered.
Some of these "gods" also "inspire" holy books that make them look, shall we say, silly. Consider Judges 1:19 in the KJV:
"And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron."
Strong's Literal Translation also repeats that God himself, the almighty, can be defeated by iron chariots. Some power that is.
Can we send annoying actors on a mission to land on this asteroid, drill down into it, and make it blow up? Oh, and can we have one of those guys have to stay behind to detonate it? Better yet, make them all have to stay behind.
And my grandpa's IBM laptop is still running strong, and it has had quite a bit of use. My laptop has no issues either, and that thing has been to hell and back.
Or social anxiety disorder?

The majority of exploits nowadays attack plugins. Firefox is just as vulnerable to PDF exploits as IE is.
Speaking of the PDF weaknesses, are those inherent to the spec, or are they vulnerabilities that only show up in Adobe's implementation?
There are turn based games that you can play, and with many games, multiplayer only needs one copy of the game. You also can get online play.
A Nintendo DS is far cheaper, and you can play it in the car or at Grandma's. You can get several for the price of the iPad, or one and some games.

Antidepressants also induce growth in the hippocampus, IIRC.
I drove a truck that was nearly twice as old as myself for a time, so it does happen. It just is very rare.

No difference for me. Both of them give me the regular address in all browsers.

lame troll just makes it apparent that you are a virgin.
This is slashdot, we are all virgins! How can you tell him apart from the rest of us?

I pronounce it as "weedy." It reminds me of all the drugs that marketing must have done to come up with the name.

Sometimes that command can result in some interesting sounds though. Bono never does.
Sounds like a typical American fskin religion where the pastor periodically asks the sheep for more money
That pattern has been going on for centuries, and is not unique to the US. Religions of all kinds have demanded money all over the world.

But coasters! We got lots of coasters (or aerodynamically challenged frisbees) out of the deal. Worth something.
I think they may have sent out floppies first, so at least you got a free floppy before.
