What are the game producers going to do when they finally get to the point where the games look like real life, but still have the entertainment value of the movie "Glitter" or "It's Pat"?
Unless something huge happens that gives Apple a much larger share of the market, I see no reason why someone would put out the millions of dollars to startup a computer company to compete for the small piece of the pie that Apple owns.
I have no problem with allowing cell phone use on airplanes. The problem is when they expect to use them IN the airplane. When they do that, then they need to allow me to carry a stun gun.
"Now China has the most valuable resource: cheaper than hell labor."
I'm sorry, but if I had a large number of captive employees who I could make work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without pay and without benefits I certainly would be able to undercut some piddly Communist country.
You put me in charge of Hell and I'll turn a profit.
Hate to ruin the conspiracy, but Adam Smith is from Washington State, home of Microsoft. The other names mentioned don't have Microsoft listed as a contributor. Or are you concerned about the Carpenters and Joiners Union trying to dictate software licenses?
I know that it is the hallmark of/. to be reactionary, but before we inundate these folks with email can we verify the validity of a Anonymous Coward submission of an article at NewsForge that was submitted by an Anonymous Reader?
At the end of the article, when asked about what they are looking forward to in Gnome 2.2...
Dave:I'm also looking forward to seeing some apps beginning to mature. Galeon2 is one of the ones I'm waiting eagerly for, and Rhythmbox would be nice to have too."
They got the link to Rhythmbox wrong. Should be.org, as correctly linked above.
That's the funny thing. DVD's are cheaper for the movie stuidios to produce, as they can have several language tracks on the same DVD master. They can run a hundred thousand discs without changing a thing. With VHS tapes they'd have to have different runs for each language
Just as with VHS, the movie industry will have to be force-fed all the money they make on DVD sales and they'll be crying all the way to the bank.
Yes, it's been suggested before. And yes, it's off-topic. But there are enough newer Slashdot members around right now that are posting this idea (and then modding it up) that it's time to link to the FAQ again.
I've already taken this into consideration. Knowing that Micro$oft likely browses at 5 I went ahead and rated down the best questions so far as -1 "Flamebait".
Mandrake has the cryptically-named Mandrake Update. Very nice.

An exquisitely rendered turd is still a turd.
Why waste your voice when a small portable airhorn is so inexpensive?

I would address your post directly but it was far too wordy for me to be able to...oh look, a Shiney!
I've heard of using this as well, but my concern is that my rig would smell like asphalt, and not that little green tree that I love so much.
You can either spend ~USD120.00 for 39ft2 of Dynamat or you can get the same effect with materials like B-Quiet Extreme and get 50ft2 for USD85.00.
I'm not affiliated with them, I just hate seeing people spend a ton of money on something that has an equal quality, lesser-priced alternative.
The complementary magazines on Southwest Airlines make a point of noting that you do NOT have to turn off pacemakers. Seriously.
It'd be a bummer if we had to shut grandma down while we taxi, only to get delayed because of weather or something.

Warning!! That is NOT the cache. DON'T CLICK IT!!!
Depends on whether his Microsoft software licenses are in order.

"The government is going to outlaw the GPF! All copies of Linux will be confiscated!"
Moron. Outlawing the GPF would get rid of Windows.

"I think Don Marti was also the one who thought the geeks should do this by moving en masse to North Dakota."
When we get there we will rename it to GNU/North Dakota.
Imagine a Beowulf call center full of these.

Then he's been here long enough to know 1) that there is an FAQ and 2) to READ IT.
Here is the entry in the official Slashdot FAQ that answers your question.
Yes, it's been suggested before. And yes, it's off-topic. But there are enough newer Slashdot members around right now that are posting this idea (and then modding it up) that it's time to link to the FAQ again.
Because they use Windows, and it'd be silly to bomb something that already crashes incessantly. Seems like a waste of explosives to me.
I've already taken this into consideration. Knowing that Micro$oft likely browses at 5 I went ahead and rated down the best questions so far as -1 "Flamebait".
They'll never know.
That stuff is selling at USD578/oz. You'd think with that kind of money that they'd be able to afford a fatter bandwidth pipe for their server.
That would be cool. Imagine the brighter, more colorful bowell movements that you would make!
Heck, I'd skip flushing the toilet just to show off my creations to my wife. I'm sure she'd love that!
