  1. Sounds about right. on The D&D Designers Answer Your Questions · · Score: 0

I'm seeing a lot of this anti-4e sentiment, but what's interesting to note is that a lot of this is coming from the same people who swore they wouldn't upgrade to 3.5, and now they're defending it.

The issue here is that 3.5 was rushed, unnecessary and disappointing, leaving players doubting the next edition. In reality, 4e is making all the changes they were afraid to make in 3.5. This edition is literally the version that the 3.5e revision failed to live up to. Rather than saying "4e will suck because 3.5e sucked", we should rather be saying, "Because 3.5e sucked, 4e will be awesome."

I don't know about you, but I'm going to at least give it the benefit of the doubt until release day. http://d20.jonnydigital.com/

  2. Jesus would never wish for revenge, President Bush on Further Updates On Terrorist Attack · · Score: 0
Bush claims to be a Christian, and as such should have Jesus Christ as his role model, right?

Jesus would never wish for revenge. If President Bush orders a retaliatory (sp?) attack of any kind, then he proves himself a HYPOCRITE, as well as a childish coward no better than the terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center.

Not to mention... he will be the man responsible for the greatest world war this planet has ever seen.

  3. Re:GUI cvs Command on Are GUI Dev Tools More Advanced than CLI Counterparts? · · Score: 0
I take it nobody's never heard of ARexx either? ^__^

ARexx is a scripting language on the Amiga that allows a GUI program to be controlled entirely using a script. Legend has it that NASA uses - or used - ARexx to automate the downloading of images from satellites.

Output from one program could also be piped to another program or a virtual device - say, straight from a text program to the printer or modem port, or to/from a file on disk...

Not to mention that the Amiga's CLI was so groin-grabbingly kick-assingly good that most GUI software could be run just as easily via command-line. Wanna use GUI? Fine, load up the program by double-clicking on the icon and using the menus, newbie style. Wanna use CLI? Bring up a CLI window, enter your command (more s:startup-sequence, for example, displayed the PC's eqivalent of autoexec.bat).

Compared to the Amiga, even Windows scripting sucks.

Isn't it just a little ironic that after we've been campaigning for years to get unmetered internet access in the UK, someone comes along and decides to make METERED software?

Personally, I like to be able to play a game for as long as I like, without having to worry that my time is about to expire or that I'll be charged more for 'just another hour on Quake 4, I swear...".

Still, a number of micropayments instead of one lump sum could be an interesting software strategy in the future, and I think a lot of people would like to see how they turn out.

(not that you'll see my comment anyway, nobody wants to mod up the posts that start at zero score... *sniffle*)

Now that chip manufacturers have taken one step closer to Linux, there's one big question I think we're all still asking.

When are we gonna see Linux becoming more mainstream ?

Given the rumoured price of Windows XP (Two hundred dollars? No chance!) I think it's about time we saw the kick-ass kind of home operating system that hasn't been available since the good old days of Amiga. At very least, I'd like Microsoft to see a viable alternative to Windows so that they'll be forced to lower Windows prices for the rest of us.

"Why not use tidal forces to pump the water ? Or even just wave power."

You couldn't just let the bacteria escape into the ocean. It's not simply a matter of lowering a cage of bacteria into the ocean - you'd need to put the seawater in with the bacteria, leave it to work for a few days at least, then filter out the millions of tiny bacteria and put them in a box. (It's much similar to the technique used to produce insulin with genetically modified bacteria, only with gold instead of insulin.)

After all that, you're left with a tank maybe the size of a swimming pool full of sea water - and there's maybe only a milligram (or LESS) of gold in the whole thing.

Suffice to say, it's rarely worth it unless you're sure there's a whole bunch of Au dissolved in your patch of the Atlantic.

A trojan is safe in the hands of someone who's not going to do any damage, but I've heard of people who go around handing out a Sub7 trojan in chatrooms... sorry, IRC channels ^_^, but disguised as a different kind of file. As soon as the 'victim' runs the file, the 'hacker' goes into their computer and totally wrecks their machine. Newbies don't know any better because it's not obviously a trojan. There ought to be a program that goes around automatically closing open sub7 trojans, or perhaps giving the infected user notification and asking them if they want it removed. How about it?
