    Hmmm let me count the number of times I've needed algebra.....none. Unless you're going to be an engineer its almost worthless in everyday life. How about teaching kids to add in their heads or figure out a 15% or 20% tip.

    Plus the P4 is engineered well enough that it doesn't go *POOF* when the heatsink is removed. The P4 will win out because it scales much farther than what AMD offers. Expect 3ghz cpus by the end of this year.

    Most devices today use switching supplies which are more efficient and evidently cheaper to build than a transformer. DC was common at the turn of the century and even into the 40s in some cities. AC is much better for distributing power, thats why Edison lost.

    If you run something as obscure as OpenBSD on a sparc it also has a blink option in the kernel that flashes the green LED under normal conditions. If you get a panic or sit at the boot prom its steady.

    Apache.org is run by FreeBSD and its the platform where most of the development work is done. They need a good stable OS and its not linux. Don't believe me that its unstable? Try this:

    Because hardware based solutions are always faster. All pro video encoding is done with hardware mpeg cards instead of slow software. Chances are if you have a site that requires load balancing $400 isn't much of an investment.
