I have NEVER seen a dll version be an issue in troubleshooting a system. The version of IE doesn't matter, its just an app like netscape.

  2. no on Slashback: Setup, Heck, Servitude [updated] · · Score: 1

Its because linux is a nightmare to support. Win98 is win98 plain and simple.

    So you have linux?
    kernel 2.0.x or 2.2.x
    glibc or glibc2
    xfree 3.3.6 or 4.0
    x86 sparc alpha etc etc
did you compile module f00 into your kernel
do you have the latest kernel
See what I'm getting at? Lets not forget the lack of libc5 compatibility in redhat 7.

Have fun with your nightly builds, segfaults, crashes, and bug reports. While you're filling out bug reports I'm using a browser that doesn't crash and works right now. Not in the future, not in the next build. Its all what matters now to consumers.

As for win2k, remember windows2000test.microsoft.com? was it ever 0wned or DoS'ed into oblivion? Compare the number of buffer overflows in linux to the number in windows.

That was a whole lot of masturbating about free software but somehow I didn't see any real examples or facts. Like how most linux multimedia players bite my ass. Xanim can't even play standard mpegs from www.nineinchnails.net. Cinepak is a horrible old codec for quicktime, I'm not even sure who still uses it. All the other players might work, but just barely. I tried viewing a vcd mpeg at full screen and the framerate dropped almost 50%!
