  1. I pay for SiriusXM on Largest US Radio Company iHeartMedia Files For Bankruptcy (reuters.com) · · Score: 2

I pay for it because I still listen to Howard Stern (when he's not on vacation or working his 3 day "flexible" schedule). I also don't mind the live DJs that the stations have. They say a few words and maybe news about upcoming concerts and that's it. Plus they play specials and have guests do their own playlists. I've heard a lot of good music that way. I also don't have to worry about cell coverage or docking my phone and loading an app.

  2. AMD has the exact same thing so don't hold your hopes up.

Pretty much. The *BSD teams have to write wrappers or other bullshit to fix it. Funny that Linux has become Proprietary in the world of open source.

  7. Buy a better board on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ Launched (raspberrypi.org) · · Score: 2

Apparently no one knows the original reason for building the Pi. It was to have the absolute cheapest platform to hack on for students. You need a better CPU or a SATA port? Pony up that extra $20 and buy something better.

  8. Re:64 bit OS ? on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ Launched (raspberrypi.org) · · Score: 1

Same thing with SPARC. If you loaded the 64 bit build of Solaris then 32 bit binaries actually ran slower. Having a 64 bit CPU makes no difference until you need to address more RAM.

  9. Have you ever heard of hills and weather? No amount of money could motivate me to ride a bike on a public road. Around here hills are super steep and you won't find a straight section of road except maybe some four lane highways. Also this morning it was 25 degrees. What happens during the summer when its hot and humid? I get to work dripping with sweat?

No fucks given if twitter vanished forever.

  11. The first paragraph says ultrasound doesn't travel well in air and does not cause pain. Second paragraph suggests an ultrasound transmitter and possibly jammer? What would be the point of any of these devices if they can't transmit very far?

  12. Elon can do no wrong. Even when he can't meet production dates or sells cars with terrible build quality. An engineering firm did a tear down of the latest model and said it was like a "1990s era Kia" in terms of quality.

  13. The heads of the followers of the cult of Elon are going to explode over this one.

  14. You one of those nutjobs that keeps 400 tabs open? Chrome never uses more than 2-3Gb for me.

  15. I never met a time traveler before. How is life in 2004 treating you? If my computer has 16Gb of memory why should I be upset that programs take advantage of it? Is that bragging rights or something? Oh look I have 64Gb and never use more than 6!

  16. Plenty of people. They just keep on running.

  17. OP sounds like an idiot. Think for a second, how would you build an accurate motor driven clock? If the mains frequency is accurate then it's pretty easy. Nearly every electric clock built in the last 100 years runs this way. Not until integrated circuits became common did they use crystals. Even then accurate crystals aren't cheap and vary with temperature.
