Now I know you're trying to be funny (and failing because the K7 cpu smokes when the heatsink is removed) but you raise a valid point. Most stoves with the fancy displays eventually burn out or fade after a few years due to the oven heat. So now my oven is totally useless because the display quit or a solder joint on the pcb failed.
I've *NEVER* heard of a single instance of a refresh rate or too high of a scanning frequency causing monitor failure. Seems like a trivial thing to fix for a monitor manufacturer. Would you sell a product that shot out fire if someone clicked a slider setting too high?
Yeah cutting spending is such a crazy idea. The poster above you didn't suggest a single thing you said. He said to cut admin costs and stop paying the equivalent of ditch diggers union salaries. Nobody is saying to shut down the cops/fire/ems/road crews. What they are saying is take a good look at where the money is being pissed away. Eventually you're going to run out of things to tax.
Alright so this thing won't place on the Top 500 list but that's not the point. Its a real supercomputer and an ideal learning environment for distributed computing. No a room full of desktops and gigabit ethernet is not the same thing.
Fuck you, it used to be cheap. We want it back that way. The rest of the world agreed to fund social programs and public transport through high fuel taxes. We did not.
Not sure why this is sitting at -1. The UEFI spec says SafeBoot must have the option to be disabled. If anyone bothered to read who all was part of the UEFI group they would note its a dozen companies including AMD. Well all know how much slashdot likes to suck AMD's cock.
There is nothing to figure out. Its a problem of physics. LEDs produce heat that must be dissipated somehow. Its no good if your replacement bulb has a huge heatsink attached to it. It also brings up the problem of lights in enclosed spaces, something incandescents have no issue with.
Pittsburgh is a modern day Shelbyville from The Simpsons. They have 446 bridges and but spent half a billion dollars drilling a tunnel under the river for their light rail line. Rumor has it the project cut corners and will have to close in a few years because the yearly maintenance will bankrupt the city.
Can't see shit in that picture except a license plate. I'm supposed to be outraged over a Ferrari? They aren't anywhere near the top of the supercar price list.
Yes, I don't know the first thing about C or C++ for that matter. If C++ is indeed so horrible then why was it invented and why is it still being used?

The submitter has a hardon for Linux and is giddy that the authentication mechanism for an OS that is over a decade old now can be broken.

I guarantee that ~90% of the users here have Gmail accounts.
Same here. My mom ordered one and had it in a few days. Migrated all her old email over to Gmail and it works flawlessly.
Buy her a Chromebook. You won't be sorry.

Get a Chromebook instead. Much cheaper and you get a full keyboard. My mom loves hers compared to the Asus Netbook she was using.

Bullshit. I bought a 20 watt white led array and it needs a heatsink suitable for an i7 core cpu. Anything smaller and it would be too hot to touch.
Please explain how any of these issues can cause a CFL to fail.

Can guarantee his punishment is gonna cost less than what me made.
Seriously. Cell phones finally started getting decent cameras to take pictures with so now people run filters to make them look like faded polaroids?
So what is the significance on these functions? Are they useful for anything?
Because you don't become successful in business by donating or giving things away.
Yeah god forbid they ask you to know an application that 100% of the world can accept. If you do business with anyone, they likely use MS office.

Oh right linux makes you immune from things like buffer overflows or user assisted attacks.

Oddly enough Wozniak seems to be the polar opposite.
