There have been atleast 2 car companies who've called their cars "Nova", 'cos it sounds new and hip. But it means "doesnt go" in Spanish. (technically "no va" is "doesnt go") see Chevrolet Nova for more details.
Raul, obviously, didnt think this one through properly.
Ireland's economy is down the shitter at the moment, and the government has been trying for ages to find where they can cut 2bil euro from the budget. Their solution: Instead of attacking small groups of people who wont do anything and dont matter, they attack everyone. Massive pension levies on public sector workers and big tax hikes on everyone else.
all of this hate in the country for something that the American government was going to spend on broadband!
I too would like to upgrade. On my new model, I would like a volume control knob, and a mute button, preferably with a remote control. I'd love a slot loading disc drive. They are tight! Previous model had a problem that stopped me from using the disc drive for about 5days every month. It was always exactly when you wanted to insert a disc there.
If one came with lots of features installed, that would be great as I wouldnt need to by extras every year. However in this case, I just cant opt for an opensource operating system. I had problems with that on my old model as it had lots of bugs and viruses. There were just too many users on the system.
On this one, I'd also be looking for big buttons on the case. I always found my old model hard to turn on.
another idea is that the virus will mutate to one with a longer incubation period, but could have a higher mortality rate. I know HIV doesnt do much to the body directly but it screws up the T cells in the immune system. This new virus could work faster on the immune system once it starts. It would also spread more as it wouldnt be (easily) detected by current methods (testing for HIV antibodies) as the fibre knobs on the viron will have changed.
The problem being that many cell receptors that these viruses bind to (eg CAR coxaci adenovirus receptor) are highly conserved in humans. If we could just mutate the gene(s) that code for that receptor and nothing else happened it would be fine.
The reason that these genes and receptors are conserved is that they have essential functions, that may not yet be fully (if at all) understood.
Hate to burst the bubble, but the HIV virus is one of the fastest to mutate, which is one of the reasons the body finds it hard to fight it. How can you fight what you cant see?
No movie quotes please.
I want it on the record here that I (as a biochemist) predict that the virus will mutate around the resistance genes within a few years. Too long to get the resistance to everybody.
It could also have made the delayed event not so bad as it released some of the pressure early. If it had built up as it was supposed to, the destruction would have been much worse and with it, the death toll.
Refuse to hand them over. Get a group of you and your friends to do the same. Dont get violent - passive resistance.
I know that in Ireland atleast a teacher can not so much as looking to your bag without your explicit permission. I believe there is a clause in there where if they think that there is something dangerous/illegal there, then they can look in.
And of course, remind your teachers the golden rule of essay writing: "copying from one person is plagiarism, coping from many sources is research."
its the same on TV. If a movie is about to come on and the presenter says "This movie contains violent scenes and full frontal nudity" damned if I'm changing the channel!
Wish I had the figures to hand but there were studies done by the british government (10 maybe 15 years ago IIRC) that smokers contribute more money to the health service than they take from it as they have a habit of dying from diseases to which there is no cure.
Win/win!
Stem cells are not a wonder drug solution to cancer. SC have a bigger hope for curing cancers like lymphomas where replacement bonemarrow needs to be grown and transplanted in the patient.
Then of course you run the risk that the growth of the stem cells will run out of control, thus turning malignant itself. Fireman burning down the house...
"Say... your body just starts literally killing ALL cells... cancer and normal... "
unlikely AFAIK as the receptors on cells that recognise various signals are VERY VERY specific. Like one amino-acid change in a protein out of thousands and there is chance that the signal will not be recognised.
/facepalm

I'd be more afraid of being transmutated into superhero and having my next month ruined by having to save people. I'm busy enough as it is.

Pfft, I'm able to boot Ibex in under a minute.
You have you be behind someone to stab them in the back.
Its annoying having the bad karma, not getting to mod people!

I'd be far more worried if the food performed an illegal function, and had to be deleted. Is it even possible to ctrl+alt+del food?

We are on top of things. All this is recorded. Including all that horse porn that Mr Rowland was watching at the time of his post.
Sorry you have it wrong. Only democrats get a BSOD. Republicans get a RSOD.
I'll be waiting for his Sectera (which runs Window mobile) to get a BSOD
{ guantanamo.exe has performed an illegal operation and will now close. guantanamo.exe must be closed }
12 months later...
{It appears that you have not yet closed guantanemo.exe }

Looks similar alright. Im pretty sure I saw it with GBP. Maybe someone worked it out for Britain.
^^ Truth.

Dont troll me, cos thats what the last 10 posts have been doing more or less!
