I was tempted to get Aion (and I might still try it for a trial when they offer one) but when I found out that it will be a grindfest I decided not to. I played Final Fantasy 11 for 4 years and I'v had enough with grindfest MMOs. Quest baised (WoW, WAR, LotR:O) are the way to go.
As of right now you cant. Like I said, it would be nice for the standards/traditions/rules-of-thumb to change but I dont expect them to. At least not this gen, no clue what the next gen will bring.
On that note I know of a game that does not follow these standards: LittleBigPlanet. It would be nice if this is the starter of a new trend in multiplayer and user-generated content, however it currently is one of a kind.
If you are talking about split screen multiplayer then again, you should not expect that from the PC version. Console games having split screen multiplayer and PC games not having it has also been the rule for who knows how long.
Again: If you want to mod and make your own levels: Get the PC version.
If you want to play split screen multiplayer then get the console version.
These are the standards that have been around for as long as I have been playing games. Would it be nice for them to change? Yes. Do I expect them to? No.
I would argue that the very concept of a "consumer", meaning one who just consumes and doesn't interact, itself arises from DRM and other aspects of copyright. With a few notable exceptions such as RPG Maker 2 for PlayStation 2, console games are not moddable, which forces players to be consumers.
Well yes, that is the point. If you want to be able to mod a game or even make your own level you buy the PC version of the game. That has been the rule for who knows how long. It is stupid to assume you would be able to mod a game on a console because no one expects to be able to.
When people talk about DRM it is normaly in respect to not being able to resell games or other media (DRM iTunes music, PC games that require activation online like Spore or Call of Duty).
DRM does not exist on the console yet. You finish a game you can take it to GameStop and sell it to them, no questions asked. The only thing that would come close to DRM is the DLC which is tied to your account and not your game disk.
All Xbox360 games must be signed by Microsoft. All Wii games must be signed by Nintendo. All PC games that use the "Games for Windows" or "Games for Windows Live" must be signed by Microsoft.
None of the games I have played on my PS3 have disabled the use of my PS3's Ethernet or Blu-Ray player (*cough*StarForce*cough*).
From the consumers point of view there is no malware or draconian DRM.
News Flash: The person who started this discussion (Parent of the Parent of my original post) was talking about consoles not anything else dealing with Sony.
Failure to read the discussion thread is no excuses for posting a ass-holish reply.
The iPhone is pretty much representing the ideal of the Tricorder or the PADD from Star Trek.
I think the iPhone is the Tricoder. However I think the Kindle is the PADD because it is lightweight, low power requirements and has a big enough screen to be able to read it for long periods of time.
When learning to write I actually found that some cursive letters were easier to write then their print ones. For example the "Re" in "Ready" will be written in cursive and the rest of the word will be in print.
The stuff you can buy in Battlefield Heroes is purely cosmetic.
In Free Realms not so much. When I played a month ago you could buy weapons that made you level faster and get money faster. When you subscribed to the game you were able to get access to different classes and crafting abilities.
MOD UP! Also, it has been announced that Final Fantasy 14 will be on PS3 and PC when it is released. It will likely be ported to the next X-Box like FFXI was with the 360.
Also, The Agency (a SOE game) will be released for PS3 and PC.
you can be just as effective in a new character after a few months in the same ship as my 2003 character, just I have a lot more choices.
That proves the opposite of the point you are trying to make. New players in World of Warcraft have every bit as many options as longer term players have once they reach the level cap.
I think you misunderstand. Let me dumb it down for you. In WoW you take one class to 80, then raid and grind rep. When you get bored you start a new character as a new class and grind that up to 80.
In EvE you start off being able to fly a frigate, do some basic combat and mining. You train skills to be better at a chosen path. You want to be the best frigate fighter then you focus your training on small weapons, and focus on getting access to Tech Level 2 frigates. When you get bored of flying a frigate all day you can then train up cruser skills or if you want to go strait for the battle ship you train the prerequisites and then focus on training Large weapons.
You can think of the Battle Ship as being the EvE equivalent to Death Knight. Before it was changed you had to level another character to 55 before the Death Knight class would be unlocked.
The point is, in a few months of EvE you fly the best Tech level 2 frigate with the best guns, or you could fly a Battleship with standard level guns. Either way you can be effective in 0.0 (end-game).
I wish I had mod points. I would mod each and every one of these comments bitching about the 2 other movies as Overrated, Troll, and Flamebate.

Yes, I was simply amazed at how much that game looked and felt like I was in Tron the movie. All of the new creatures (the green viri) felt perfect. Back around release of the game I read something about Nvidia having to create a custom shader just for Tron 2.0 to get the look and feel of the game right.
Humm...all this talk about Tron is making me want to play the game again.
The older Final Fantasy games were notorious for this (you spoony bard). Modern Final Fantasy titles (10, 11, Advent Children) have gotten extremely good. There is only one line I can remember in Advent Children that felt out of place and the voice acting as a whole was exceptional.
Maybe everyone who replied to the parent about Advent Children sucking should watch the director's cut Blu-Ray. The original movie did have some plot holes and some things did not make much sense, however the extra 20-30 min in the Blu-Ray version really flesh out the plot.
I enjoyed Advent Children tremendously.
I also disagree with that one AC said about "computer graphics like that stopped being impressive about a decade ago". Please, someone name 2 films that get this close to total photo realism. The only 2 I can think of both have Final Fantasy in their name.
Well at least you got matches. Every time I do one of their quizzes it comes back with "Sorry we are unable to match you at this time". Ya, thanks for the self esteem boost there E-harmony.
If you are happy already, you won't come across desperate, because you won't be desperate. You will do at least a little better in dating when you don't feel a crushing *need* to do well, and that happens when you no longer perceive that the rest of your life sucks donkey balls.
However, I feel that I have tried everything to make myself happy (travel, RL friends, drugs, games) and I still feel that I am missing something. I can only conclude that this something I am missing is a mate, there for I do have "a crushing *need* to do well" or else I do not feel I can be complete.
Do you think that buff guy up at the bar talking to the hot chick got buff through genetics?
Yes, it is genetics. Example my gut vs my Dad's gut. My Dad goes to the gym every other day after work and does basic exercises in the morning. I do nothing but sit on my ass and play MMOs. Our guts are about the same size. My Dad never had and likely never will have a 6-pack. Infact I'd say the only difference between me and him is that he is a little more tone then me and can walk/run alot longer without getting tired. I know that even if I work my ass off every day I'll never have 6-pack abs.
Whilst it's naive to automatically assume that the police were acting honestly and responsibly, it's even more naive to assume that these people were just having a small family barbecue in a field just because they say they are.
The rational response for intelligent people is to say the story doesn't have enough information to just who is right and who is wrong. Photos would help.
I dont know how it is in the UK but what ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? All I see here are a small family gathering to wish someone happy birthday. Music, lights, beer...that all goes with the birthday party atmosphere.
So, in the UK, it is now illegal for me and 15 other friends to gather together and play Halo all night? Even more illegal if we have moderately loud music going on? There are some laws that I would enjoy breaking and this is high on the list.

Pfft. Until there's a decent RPG ... consoles have nothing for me.
Two words:
Mass Effect
