Is this the only way to get an AMD chip that is performance competitive with Intel's stuff? I was a huge AMD fan up until the Core 2's started to dominate.
Come on AMD, make your chips fast in a normal setup!:)
How much is Microsoft paying you to spam Slashdot with this propoganda bullshit? Seeing as how you live in the Redmond area and have a love for Microsoft only matched by Steve Ballmer himself?
You've made like 50 posts on Slashdot on this topic. Everyone knows why Microsoft is pushing Silverlight, so they can make using Mac and Linux more difficult in the future.
Yet you seem have a totally confused notion of what Open Source is, how its created, who uses it, etc. It's almost as if you have never been involved in any type of Open Source project at all. Like for example, when you call Linux a hobbyist OS. Do you think Google sees Linux as a hobbyist OS?
Linux is no longer an OS where you have to fiddle with things endlessly to have them work. It has been adopted and is maintained by huge, huge companies, some bigger than Microsoft.
Why are you preaching about Open Source when you're clearly a Microsoft shill? To any one with half a brain, Silverlight's mission is simple: Get all the media running on Sliverlight and then drop support everywhere but Windows. It's a classic Microsoft strategy. It's what they do, it's probably in the corporate bylaws.
No one asked for, nor needs, Silverlight. Open Source doesn't mean "reverse engineered version of a propprietary app."
I call you a Microsoft fanboy douche because that's what you are.
You sound pretty inexperienced. Java is no different than other languages, there are no hidden problems. It's been used so widely its operation is well understood... by professionals.
As another post mentioned, perhaps you should be working in a convenience store instead of programming. I mean, if you can't handle Java, you definitely shouldn't be using any other language.
You mention that scripting language glue and C/C++ are the future, which means you clearly have no perspective on what is coming. EVERYONE is switching to Java-style virtual machine environments. First it was Java, now Microsoft has their own Java,.NET. Adobe's flash is now running in a virtual machine environment, tamarin.
You need to read a book or go back to school... or both.
yeah but Intel's $200 chips (see Q6600) can compete with AMD's expensive stuff.
Normally, I'd be amazed that got marked troll... but this is Slashdot afterall.

I think its that to Microsoft its just another way to lock people into Windows.
The Xbox could be a refridgerator if Microsoft felt that would help lock-in Windows users.
FYI, there's something like 8 million Ubuntu users.
Ubuntu uses the Linux kernel, so it counts.
There's also no PC emulator for consoles.
So what you're saying is, you agree with the OP and you can't remove IE from Windows without seriously damaging other components.
Don't give me any of that 'Star Trek' crap. It's too early in the morning.
Bloody smeg head.
uh, looking at your comment history you and "coryking" the spamming douche bag have very similar posts and responses.
Interesting I'd say.
IBM.
Well at least it will help fight against the global cooling trend we're in.
Java tends have better performance than .NET, which is what Sliverlight uses. .NET is a clone of Java, FYI.
Yeah, only a few people cared about freedom from England back in the day... they're called the founding fathers now.
Things have to start somewhere.

WTF is this about: http://silverlight.net/user/Profile.aspx?UserID=34139
Microsoft is probably paying you to spam Slashdot with your bullshit.
I hope you burn in hell.

Moonlight doesn't work yet and probably never will, you Microsoft fanboy douche.
Flash and Java work fine on any operating system with more than handful of users.
Silverlight doesn't.
space fire kills you?
I meant the fact that the PS3 is very expensive and few people own one.
Maybe its more like... if your big draw relies on a gimmick that may wear thin during the demo, you may want to rethink your release strategy.
I'm gonna have to blame the PS3 for LittleBigPlanet's failures.

I just asked mine and it said the same thing.
It almost mentioned the Year of the Linux desktop was 2003.
They're both copyright infringement, thus illegal.
It's just that distributors are treated more harshly and commonly than downloaders.
After all, if there were no uploaders, there would be no downloaders.
Tsk tsk, this is Slashdot you know.
Or you could, you know, overwrite the bits with new garbage data.
At work, we've had dealings with data recovery labs and they've never, ever been able to retrieve anything useful.
