Sorry about that, I heard from what I thought was a reliable source that this was an athalon. Still don't see the advantage over playing on a computer, unless the price is significantly less.
First off, to answer the question about the processor, it's an athalon.
Second, how is this supposed to compete with the new gaming consoles? Heck, you would think that the sun shines out Sony's ass with the way that some people talk about the playstation 2. Dolphin is sure to be an amazing piece of equipment.
MS, on the other hand, is realeasing a 600 MHz box that barely has enough RAM to run the operating system that is the only reason that it is being released. The only reason that this was built at all is so that MS could say that windows was actually used in a gaming platform. Heck, put linux on yours for all I care, it's just a computer that LACKS a few of the features that a good desktop system should have. Perhaps the copy of windows in it has been tweaked a bit for gameplay, but I don't see the advantage that this box could possibly have over a box running any of the newer chips, and SIGNIFICANTLY more memory.
Synopsis, want this box? Build your own, save some $$$, and get enough memory in the damn thing!
Well, one of the main advantages of slackware, in my experience, is that the base install feels more like unix than that of redhat. Now, of course, with customization, redhat can be configured to feel more like unix. This is based on my install of RH 6.0. I haven't really worked much with a release of RH since 6.0. Older versions of RH have a different look and feel to them than the newer versions.
Where do you get that Redhat's Min install is 500 meg? I'm sure that I don't need the swahili transaltions or any of that... Heck, I'm running slack 7.0, and I KNOW that it isn't even eating up 500 meg right now, unless you count all of the images and stuff that I've been generating for webpages and stuff...
My university has banned at least one student from running a netcam out of his dorm room. Also, windows file sharing. All computers infected with Back Orifice (found using a port scan), have their connections deactivated. ICQ has been turned off before. Ident is blocked. Also, running a server of any kind is not allowed on the campus network.
I do not currently subscribe to the Post up here at WVU. I get most of my news from slashdot, or other internet sites. I get a lot of it from word of mouth. Sometimes I watch the news while I do homework.
The one paper that I do read is the Daily Atheneum, which I probably spelled wrong, since only freshmen refer to it as anything other than the DA.
I read it to get campus news, and local stuff that I don't find online. Pretty often, nothing is happening. I don't really give 2 shits about who is going to be elected to student government, especially since they are pretty much powerless. A recent poll revealed that about 4% of WVU students voted in the last election, a reflection of the mighty power wielded by the pretty boy frat guys that win this popularity contest.
My point is. Unless there is real local news, there isn't really much point in reading the paper anymore. I read the DA about once a month, when I find a copy on the floor of one of my less interesting lectures.
Stuff that I care about, I can read on the net, and when it's covered in the papers, it's usually covered wrong anyways. Y2K was a great example of that one.
I'll read the comics, if I have time... Goats and Userfriendly that is.
The simplicity of the Libertarian page is not out of lack of ambition, but it is a metaphorical display of the simplicity of their platform.
WOO! Go Libertarians! 7 Errors! How many do you think that they would make as president? And BSD! At least if Browne starts sleeping around and we have a nice little scandal, we'll know that he's better in bed than those NT candidates;-)
But who's going to do this? I would really like to see it happen, yet, I don't see it happenning, not to an extent that would make a single bit of difference anyway.
People will think what they want to think. I know people who will not be swayed by logic, reason, or a definition in the dictionary to change their mind about anything. What makes anybody think that this will be any different?
I'm a computer science major at my college, and I have quite a workload. 19 hours of class. 20 hours at my part time job a week. A design project. Labs due almost every day. Huge homework assignments. My former roommate was an asshole who messed up a lot of other things for me. I don't even get enough sleep because I spend so much time doing this stuff.
But on paper, it looks like I have all of the time in the world. Such that outsiders wonder why I don't have time to do laundry except at like, 2 AM, or why my house isn't spotless all of the time.
George Carlin also uses it in one of his sketches.

Make them for an entirely new system, designed from the ground up with the newest technologies. I think that it is about time that entirely new systems not based on the old x86 systems succeeded in the mainstream. I realize that it would be quite a feat, but just think about the raw power you could get from new chips and equipment that didn't have to be compatible with old chips/code/peripherals.
We did this in TPU did this a while ago. We had a LOT of fun doing it.
The bots had some REALLY interesting conversations, if I ever track them down, I'll have to post some of my chat logs.
Of course, one of our favorite hobbies was to put them into morally opposed channels, IE a sex channel then a christian channel... Putting them in #teen was fun. Sex channels are a blast, it isn't hard to blend in. One of my bots got into a fight in a sex channel once, and it ALWAYS got hit on.
A couple fav's of the TPU crowd were bots that insulted/hit on people, and bots that gave out erroneous computer advice.
Just ask around EFNet #TPU, you'll hear all about it from the older guys.
This really pisses me off. Seems like if you have enough money, you can get whoever pisses you off a little bit arrested these days... People in general accusing others of next, it will be girls who want to get revenge on their ex-boyfriends.

Kids could build a little expandable playhouse, and then just pull on the blocks to make it big enough to fit in! Then, you could toss it in the back of your truck, and they could bring it to a friend's house! My cousin's kids would probably get a super kick out of it.
If you really wanted to extrapolate on this, you could use the same mechanics to make dollhouses that kids could expand big enough to fit in.
Cool running... Fast... 128 bit! Goodness! You could make a handheld with these things that is both cheaper and faster than the webserver where I work!
What would you expect from a company that sells a competing product? You can pick SCO UNIX or LINUX, which do they want you to pick? Two very similar OS's... One has a strong customer base/yadda yadda. Of course they're not going to say, "Oh yeah, use Linux, after all, they're our competitors.

We could change www.tpu.org, to www.TeenProgrammers.unite!
Might be an interesting thought...

Ok, subject comes from a popular IRC filter, if you don't know which one, don't worry about it.
Personally, I don't care for ramen noodles, but a burrito, would kick ass, and a nice sampler of hot sauces.

Sun actively advertising Intel chips would be like AMD actively advertising them. Why would Coke put Pepsi advertisements in every case of Coca cola?

Touchy Touchy...
I've been using the open sound system beta drivers for my Turtle Beach Montego A3D for some time now...
I will be VERY happy to try the http://linux.aureal.com drivers tonight...
I can't WAIT to get a good fully implemented driver for my sound card...
