    What do you think of the precedent that is being set here? That a governor can be recalled mostly by the efforts of a single affluent individual, namely Darrell Issa. Do you fear these recalls becoming an expensive and repeating affair?

    The odd's of a small electric shock accross the heart killing you is actually very small. IANAD but I would guess it has to hit at a very specific time during the heart beat.

    I shocked myself accross the heart with a very high voltage, low current, shock and while I almost threw the disposable camera I was dismanteling, and the knife I was doing that with, I was otherwise unharmed.

    :) Once I got it apart we had some fun with that capacitor.

    seems like a better taste would be to dial out and use all 1000 free hours. A million people do *that* and I bet they'd stop filling our mailboxes with the landfill of tomorrow

    Many years ago before I knew better I used AOL's free hours to get myself started on using the internet. I used the free hours off of one disc and cancelled the account. A month or so later I did the same thing again, I didn't even use all of the free hours before I found a good local ISP and cancelled the account. AOL billed the credit card after the account was cancelled. We called them up and the cancelled the charges and happily billed us again the next month. After much hassle we finally got the situation resolved. If a million people got billed like I did, how much interest would AOL get before they refunded the credit cards?

    Wow, this is great. Now Verizon can fail to deliver my phone calls at even greater rates. They have great commercials but their service leaves much to be desired. My friend and I have fun leaving voice mail messages to each other when we are in the same room with our phones on within sight of two cell towers.

    He had to point it off to one side because he was pointing it at an omni-directional antenna. His antenna was a Yagi which has the main lobe in front but an omni-directional antenna has it's main lobes slightly off center.

    are clearly displayed when polls like this are conducted. The more people you put in a room the dumber they get. You let large numbers of people make decisions and you get large numbers of dumb decisions.

    I think Winston Churchill got it right: "Democracy is the worst form of government. Except for all the ones tried before it." (from memory some paraphrasing inevitable)

    Wow, I never cease to be amazed by peoples tendency to panic and not think things through.
    What conventional computer case is going to let the UV light escape and shine directly onto someone's legs?
    And I think that in the unlikely case where some moron positioned it so that it did shine on someone, say through an open port in the back, AND they were wearing shorts then they would probably notice a strange tanline before they got cancer.

    Well, there are a couple of reasons why this needs to be stated.

    First of all you are dealing with college students here.

    Second there is a need for antenna deployment and if this were NASA an exploding bolt or some such fun could be used to release it.

    Third we are dealing with college students here. :)
    When we were discussing the need for a way to shut down a stuck transmitter an autodestruct sounded really cool.

    Yes, you have it right. At least the theory, the reason that the average Californian has to spend more money is because we don't have enough power plants. And the reason we don't have enough power plants is because we haven't built any new ones in 10 Years. And why haven't we built any in 10 years? Because in California there are too many damn fool environmentalists who don't want any more pollution.

    If this is the case then why isn't our good friend Wierd Al getting sued of his ass every time he releases a record. He is protected under free use.

    Of course I suppose it could be different for the music industry, and Bid For Power isn't exactly a parody. Still it would be a shame to see it go down. I hope they 'accedentaly' let the source slip out before they are crushed.

    Actually we should be more fair to the kid. I haven't actually seen it say thet HE wanted it expunged only that his PARENTS did.

    Suspensions mean dick to college applications, I had a great one and I never heard anything about it but I'm sure my parents were sweating bullets. :)

    I don't think that the electoral college as it exists right now is the best of solutions. Does anyone know if there was an actual ammendment that structured things the way they are now?

    I kind of feel that we should go back to the original electoral college as it is layed out in the constitution. Or at least some way so that the only people who vote are educated and informed.

    It clearly says in the text of the question "to do this with DHL, you have to be a business, no exceptions"

    It may be the case in this situation that there is no correlation between the two sites. But what about cases where the content of two similar looking pages was also similar? Back when I was still ripping off AllAdvantage and it's various clones I found a new site that was listing reviews on the various pay to surf sites. When I looked at it I noticed that it was an exact copy of another reveiw site that I frequented. The one difference was that he had switched his referal ID for the ID of the original owner, he even forgot to change the webmaster e-mail. This is an obvious case of plagerism but what if he had changed the wording or made a more valid attempt to disguise his theft? How much copying is OK? Nails

    I really try to stay out of these discussions because of the unwavering stances of most people on this issue. But I just can't take it any more. All forms of fuel are going to cause pollution. Anyone who drives an electric car now days causes more pollution than someone with a gasoline powered car built after 1993 if not more. Modern cars have a catalyst that causes any car driving through L.A. to emit less pollution from the exhaust than comes in through the radiator. And for all we know global warming is part of a fucking cycle. We haven't been here that long and as early as the late 70's everyone was fucking crying about global cooling. Please people do some research on your own rather than listening to the biased opinion of a few media moguls.

    The article seems to indicate that this is more usefull in scientific research where polarization is important. For the real world application does this new technology really offer much over current fiber optic technology? And I don't see anything about cost.

    Why should we clean up the earth? I can't wait for global warming to take effect. It will turn the earth into a tropical paradise. Who wants to stop that?
