A great way to write program documentation is the usage of DocBook XML (which is in fact sort of a style guide for documentation). This is explained in detail in the LDP Author Guide (by The Linux Documentation Project), which contains even more information about documentation styles. BTW: IMHO the "success" of Microsoft operating systems is based heavily on their extensive Style Guide.

Here in Germany you have to pay more than 100 Euro for the Microsoft Windows XP Home OEM edition, if you want to buy a laptop for example. There are only a few laptop manufacturers, which sell their machines without pre-installed OS. Just in case you don't need that OS, here are some legal ways to avoide the *Microsoft tax*.

You may find an almost complete list of Open Source and of commercial Linux applications for different medical purposes in the Linux-Medicine-HOWTO.
During the history of my personal trademark infringement Obelix./.MobiliX against my former project MobiliX (now named TuxMobil - Linux On Laptops, Notebooks, PDAs and Mobile Cellular Phones) I became aware of many other trademark cases against Open Source projects.
Publicity seems to be the most important approach, besides good and specialized (read expensive) lawyers. Also you may learn from these trademark cases against Open Source projects and from the history of my personal trademark infringement Obelix./.MobiliX against my former project MobiliX, which is now named TuxMobil - Linux On Laptops, Notebooks, PDAs and Mobile Cellular Phones.

If you consider to run Linux on your new laptop, you may check Linux-On-Laptops or TuxMobil - Linux on laptops, PDAs and mobile phones first. If you can not get the appropriate information there, you may take a Knoppix Linux CD to check the Linux compatibility. Just ask the salesman whether you may boot from the CD before buying.
There have been three Linux PDAs yet, which have become available in the market actually: the Agenda VR3, the SHARP Zaurus series and the Yopy made by Samsung. I have never got a request from a hardware manufacturer to beautify anything related to them at TuxMobil - Linux On Mobile Computers. Actually laptop manufacturers do not seem to care about Linux users. But there are other caveats. As discussed at SlashDot I had severe trademark trouble with the former project name MobiliX. There are other legal issues, which may occure in an instant. For example if some lawyer accuses a website owner not to obey certain legal requirements. At least in some countries (e.g. Germany) a dedicated law for internet content exists.
