OMGZZZ!!! Lucid Lynx enters beta!!!
is slashdot having a slow news day today?
Ubuntu enters beta every six months. It's news for those of us who like beta-testing Ubuntu.
Just because a story appears on Slashdot front page does not mean that you have to click "Read More" and then have to come up with something to comment. Go ahead and skip an article if you don't find it interesting. No seriously, go ahead. No one is going to stop you. You won't get an achievement saying "Did not comment on articlezor!".
Personally, I don't really like how paper feels because when I'm handling a lot of it, it tends to dry out my hands -- particularly if it is still hot from the printer or copier.
Well, I love printing stuff out because of how the warm paper feels. I love walking back from the printer with the freshly printed, warmed paper pressed against my face. And yes, I know I look weird when I do that.
Personally ESET NOD32 is my favourite and what I license
That has to be the worst product name ever! Just try pronouncing that! I thought maybe there was line noise or something, or maybe your keyboard exploded while trying to type something else. Next time someone complains about GIMP's name, I'll point to this product.
But hey, before this actually results in having 1080p videos streamed directly to your computer, the price per downloaded Gb will have to lower a lot. At least here in Canada. You imagine, I am currently capped at 25Gb per month with my current ISP, and it costs me 65$ per month for my Internet access.
There are varying degrees of "wrong". The embargo was a drastic measure that merely failed to reach its goal; but a communist government is an unacceptable evil by its very existence.
Do you honestly see our form of corporate democracy as the answer to all of life's problems? Pit one company against another and see who comes out on top. Nevermind the loser, they were just lost in the shuffle to get to the top. Now the one on top will abuse its power do its best to destroy any competitors that approach it. Oh yes, we have it made with our king of the hill society.
By making it barely tolerable you lengthen the time the current regime is in power. How many suffer? Over a shorter time now or forever into the future? We are in an ideological war with China, it is unacceptable that we even let ourselves get into this position but now that we are it is equally repugnant to take actions that prop up an obviously Evil, from my cultures training, abomination.
DirectX won, because it does sound and HID input handling, and because its on every PC sold to every mouthbreathing, Best Buy shopping, banana eating customer.
I wouldn't be so quick to say that DirectX won. The xBox 360 is the only current generation console which uses DirectX.
That reminds me. Some people just have a fixation on a color.
My mom is gonna paint her red car...
wait for it...
you guessed it...
red...
Not like her car needs a paint job. And shes not getting the same red color, apparently the red she wants is 2 more notches red than the current red. I didn't realize there was more than 1 kind of red, but hay, I'm a guy.
What does being a guy have to do with not knowing that there are different kinds of red? Really it is very easy to move from #A00000 to #C00000.
Besides, if you have a car you can take some spare clothes, water and lunch, binoculars, cameras - and whatever else you might need, transportation is free, [...]
Just so you know, not all of us own an electric car and have access to our neighbour's electricity.
While in the long run it should be ethical to mod a piece of hardware you bought yourself, I gotta admit I can list off about 16 people who all own DS's and Modchips, and half of them have yet to pay for a legal copy of a game for the DS. The other half run *mostly* modded games. None of them use the R4 for any legal 3rd party applications.
Same here. Even my fellow computer science friends that have flash carts use them almost entirely for pirating games. I have read on this page that there are some people who don't use the flash cart for pirating games but not pirating is very much the minority.
There would be very little demand for the flash carts if they were only used simply for homebrew.
Call me an ethical egoist but I've avoided buying myself a flash cart simply because of the piracy associated with it. I do not think that Nintendo made a good decision by going against the chip maker. But hunting down the individuals is not realistic either.
I actually appreciate the new new one. In the old new one I was not able to read my most recent notifications because the notification box would be larger than my window. I'm on a netbook so I'm getting used to having to deal with that kind of thing but I can't exactly hold down alt and drag the window to where I would be able to read it.
Apple is certainly clear on what they want control over. Flash on the iPhone anyone? NOT!
I like it this way. Of course, I don't own any Apple devices but Apple is a large enough company to throw some weight around and if this helps kill flash forever it will make me happy. If Apple can accomplish this, then I nominate them for a noble prize.
I will forgive any and all tyrannical behavior from Apple if this end is achieved.

Maybe not as an in-store game but if this game gets sold as an online downloadable game that costs 10 bucks it might end up being popular.

I use CIASecretSatellite.

I agree. And it sounds like the name of a virus.
Come on mods, a +3 troll at least.

I am also in Canada and mine is capped at 60 GB (plan here: http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/ProductsServices/Internet/High-Speed/) and I pay significantly less than 65$ a month. Do you live in a rural area?

Or you could try Ctrl + q.

(Or btrfs on a Linux distro)
Are you honestly suggesting using an in-development filesystem for backup purposes?
I have the time. So,pray tell, where do I learn the meanings of the various stats in Task Manager? Do you have a link?
rtfm... Oh wait... This is Windows. I could never find the man pages for that system.
Perhaps it's that Canadian copyright law was wisely crafted with the future in mind.
I see that you are not familiar with our politicians.

If you have a GMA950 you're SOL.
So I read that as SQL. And since I happen to have a GMA950 my first thought was "Huh, I am not!" And then I realized that I should clean my glasses.
You make some good points, but you've made one serious mistake. A "cool dude" would not have the lastest Spider-man movie on his drive.
Finally! The day that I have been waiting for has arrived. I want some of that cool-dude advice that is going around.

Keep Pinball. I love that old game. Very well done, and might be the best Win software ever.
This.
A while ago I reinstalled Windows on my laptop just to play Pinball again. If someone can point out an alternative I would be very thankful.

[...] Obscurity may not be obscurity but it's also not jumping up and down with a target painted on your chest.
;) I see what you did there.
What makes it so much more difficult to quickly scan a set of toolbar panes than to quickly scan a set of pull-down menus?
I can't scan icons the way I can a list of words.
[...] Ideally something with a screen that works outside, so I can use it in the park.
A park you say... I've heard rumors of this place. Please, tell me more.
