Seriously isn't a tablet pc just a very flat pc with some fancy software ?
If anything Im impressed by the hardware makes, getting all that stuff into that small a box.
I don't care about any of Microsofts products anyway, they are way to expensive, an forget about modifying features you don't like. What's fun about cool software if it only works with with Windows (Which is not cool software).
Oh btw. Could you just picture a cluster of tablets ?
Agree, self-signing is the way to go. Personally I often trust the company Im dealing with alot more than I trust Verisign.
If you don't like having to click through the warnings, you can actually do something to the certificates fooling browsers to think it's not self-signed. I don't know how, but a frind of mine figured out how to do this.
Try reading this part again: 1. GRANT OF LICENSE. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed as follows:
* Installation and Use. Microsoft grants you the right to install and use copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on your computers running validly licensed copies of the operating system for which the SOFTWARE PRODUCT was designed [e.g., Windows(r) 95; Windows NT(r), Windows 3.x, Macintosh, etc.].
This means that to use IE on Lindows, Microsoft needs to design IE for Lindows (or change the EULA). You can legally use it on Windows, Mac, Solaris and HP-UX, because IE has been designed for it. This means that if you download IE of Solaris, you need a valid Solaris licens. Also it is not enough just to have the licens, your computer actually needs to run the OS. So even if you have a Windows licens, you are not allowed to run IE under Wine.
I think the EULA for Internet Explorer stats that you need a valid Windows licens.
Sure you can run it without but that would violate the EULA, and that is actually illegal. Just because you don't like Microsoft, it doesn't make it okay to break the law. So who is going to make sure that Lindows users don't install IE ?
From the IE EULA

(Okay this is from IE 4.0, but I don't think they changed it alot).
Now I don't think that IE is designed for Lindows. Well perhaps no one will think of the idea of installing IE, let's hope so.
In Denmark we have something like that. If my combined upload and download exceeds 5GB they close my connection. If 5GB isn't enough I can increase it as much as I like, but it will cost extra.
The 5GB is around 40Euros/month. I don't have a problem with this, I have never used all 5GB. Of cause I could download 3 or 4 Linux distrobutions every month, but way would I need to do that.
Something like 95% of the people needing more than 5GB, download copyrighted film, software and music. I can't see how you can use 5GB a month legally. Of cause you could be running your own webserver or something like that, but then a cable modem isn't what you need.
Oh and in Denmark we order "remoulade" (sorry the dictionary doesn't have a good English for it) with our french fries.
Your right. Windows is used on most of the worlds computers. But then you should execpt a higher level of security in Windows. You would think windows would be more secure then Linux, simply because of the larger numbers users. Being the most widly used OS it is your obligation to be the most secure.
Microsoft doesn't seems to feal any obligation to protect the secrets or privacy of their costumers. To bad, they would avoid a lot of criticism if they did. Then again why should I care, I don't use their products.
I don't think Bush really wants to bomb Russia. Sure they don't have a lot of nukes anymore and most of them proberly won't work. Still nuke Russia and proberly lose a few major cities.
Same thing goes for China, don't fuck with these people. Bombing Afganistan is one thing. War against a countery with more then a billion people and nuclear weapons is just not a good idea. China proberly won't ignore an attack on North Korea.
Basicly nuking anyone will mean the death of millions of americans.
Hopefully the Danish goverment will say no to the US using the Thule radarbase on Greenland as part of this amasingly stupid rocked shield. Perhaps we could sell it, Greenland I mean. It really expensive to own Greenland.
That is even worse then my ISP, they just raised prices with 50%. It now costs me around $40 (300DKr) for my 912/256 kbit cablemodem, with a download limit of 5GB. But damn, Irelands broadband service sucks.
Ideology isn't the only reason for not using MS Office is not ideology.
Agreed getting it is easy, just run down and buy it, but why should I have to pay for Word just so I can open a stupid attachment? Getting it illegally is cheap, but I am NOT going to break a law for something like this.
I really don't think they care about internet right now. Etiopia just sent 1000 soldiers into Somalia. The only place I've hear about it is the Danish tv station DR. Everyone else seems to be totally unaware of this action.
I totally agree. The cool part about this one is that it has no databases. It is controlled by links.
It works like this: (Using Licq a an example)
You set --prefix=/pack/licq-1.0.3
Then licq-1.0.3 is linked to/pack/licq.
The we tell packman that it should look in/pack/licq. Then we update. Every file in/pack/licq is linked into/coll/local/ All you have to do now is add/coll/local/bin to your PATH. If you want upgrader simply install the new version in for example/pack/licq-1.0.4, move the/pack/licq link so it points licq-1.0.4, and run update. It is not like RPM or apt-get, because you still have to compile stuff your self. It just helps you keep track of your software.
It works really great and you don't have to worry about any dumb database getting all screwed up. And if you place/pack on a partition by it self. You can format all other partitions and just rerun packman after an reinstallation, and you have all the software you had before.
There is actually a Package Manager that does all this for you, only it make everything alot easier.

I only need to be able to call someone, no sms, no games, no camera, no internet, just the phone (and the phone book, thats a useful feature). Why can't I get a phone without all that crap? It would be small and cheaper. The most lame of all these features is the games, that is just stupid. IT A PHONE, no a freaking gameboy. And sms ? I don't get it, why don't you call the person ?
I don't like phones.

I think laptop can get to small. Really this just seems useless. I'll rather have a Thinkpad.
It seems to be alot like Linux In A Box, http://www.liab.dk . Except LIAB is actually a small computer, not just the bios.
:-)
I guess you could use them for really small firewalls

You mean most people don't know what EST stands for, right ?
Sorry, is just that you got more than 300 million people using CET everyday.
But in general, people should proberly use GMT on the internet. Now if we could just convince the americans.

Yeah, our government sucks. Then again it's not only the government, a lot of Danish companies seems to be ignoring Linux and Unix.
:)
Well not a problem, I always wanted to live in Germany, guess I'll have to move then
Try reading the cover of "Just For Fun", it says
"Linus Torvalds creator of Linux and David Diamond"
So not only did Linus create Linux, he also fund the time to make David Diamond.
Impressive.

Namesys have compared ReiserFS, ext2, ext3 and XFS. They don't have graphs or pictures, but they do have easy to read numbers.

Remember that Namesys is Hans Reiser company, so they like ReiserFS, but I don't think they cheat with the bechmarks.
