good response. (and I'm not being sarcastic =-)) Why is it that whenever a gnome article appears we get the usual... gnome sucks, mozilla sucks, I'll continue using win2000... jeez, I wan't to scream: I'm sure a large quanity of us don't care that you can't get your software working! submit bug reports if you want the software to get better!
actually producting modern, high quality software in C is not all that bad. just ask some kernal developers =-)
C is not all that bad. I think that some people had a hard time with in college or something and that is why they hate it. I like OOP and the benifits that it offers, but it does not solve everything and automatically allow you to produce bug free code.
Your still free to write your gnome software in python, perl, C++ or whatever if you prefer those languages, but don't assume that because you personally write good software in C that nobody else can.
I'm sure that the interconnects on the older cray will still smoke the gigabit ethernet, because you have to push all that data over the slow PCI bus, which was probally not designed by intel to be a path to cluster machines together =-)
whoever registered those domains to point to the KDE pages really needs to get a life. jeez, they are only fawking toolkits. Go outside, get some fresh air, repeat to yourself "it is only a toolkit" a couple of times.
Ya Ya Ya, we hear this all the time. Linux can't compare to solaris on high end hardware. Solaris intel sucks, but linux/intel can't beat solaris on sparc hardware in the high end.
Linux/intel works good on 4 processors/max Solaris/sparc works well on > 64 processors.
Don't make me laugh. Linux is good, but it won't replace solaris,AIX,or SGI at the high end for quite a while.
you would have to sell quite a few $14 cds to pay for a tour...
they need the music compoanies to pay for touring, production, equipment, and other things. not everyone has huge amounts of $$$ when they start off in the music business.
Yes they accept geeks. perhaps they don't except geeks that are so wound up in computers and trying not to "get hurt". Love it is a two way street guys. you have to risk getting hurt, you have to stick out your neck. if you get hurt, so what? life is too short to dwell and dwell on it. You can spend the rest of your life sitting on your ass wondering what you could of done, or you can go out and do it.
your exactly right Re:Horrible style of article...

at least the VI vs. EMACS wars are funny
I woke up with feet at the end of my legs, is it luck?
being a loyal painter user I'm saddened by this. perhaps Adobe will pick up at least painter when corel goes under.
I'm also accepting $15 million investments if anyone is interested
why can't the guy write it? does he need the bloody approval of slashdot to have a hobby?
oh, if your younger brother doesn't listen to it, then it must be going away
20 years from now people will still be listening to jazz, 20 years from now people won't be listening to punk.
think about it
hey, ISPF kicks ass =-)
Mainframes are really cool, because they are made to work well with large large loads, not PC sized ones.
even though I'm a UNIX geek, I'll always have a soft spot for them.
there IS justice!
everyone I know who drinks coffee know it is served hot, why didn't this moron who spilled it
on herself realize it?

Yeah, that and the java banners annoyed me enough to use ad blocking software.
www.junkbusters.com
free, comes with source. and is GPL if you are a licence bigot.
enjoy.
the word here is "correct" notes, like all software products (including linux, BSD, and windows) when implemented correctly works great.
the "correct" part is the most difficult part =-)
I have to agree. guys, the microsoft sucks stories are getting old. You have other choices, use them if you don't like microsoft.
this post kicks ass!!!
This cracked me up.
Believe me, I use dual head at work, once you use it, you never want to go back. you see everything at once =-)
