I don't own one of those new ones but I have (had?) an Archos Multimedia Jukebox 20. And as far as the technical specs g(and this review) go it looks pretty much like an updated Archos MMJB 20. First of all, it's an incredible machine. Ideal for recording sessions if you have a band or doing interviews and stuff like that. And besides the great sound features, wich are near to perfection, I liked the possibility to view Buffy on the subway or taking that downloaded movie over to my friends place and watch it on his huge TV-screen. And here's the big and sounding
BUT: - My Archos display broke after 14 days and was sent back to the manufactorer. I haven't heard anything about it since (8weeks!!)
- I wasn't able to convert any of my movies with mencoder into a format the archos could read. I am pretty sure I did everything right and read all of the Howtos and doublechecked every setting twice. And still, I couldn't get it to work. The VirtualDub Software worked on Win2k but I wish I could just write a script for mencoder and let it encode EVERYTHING in my moviefolder for the archos. No luck so far. Any hints welcome...
Look at todays boys! I would feel more attracted to videogames either.
Even more patchwork on my friends machines?

Nah, just what I needed. After spending days patching all those Windows PCs from my friends, family and even coworkers I feel kind of tired. I love to come home to my Slackware-Box where everything is just the way I left it and wonder why, oh why, they won't listen to my words? I mean, I told them I would hold their hands while switching. I can't see how someone with a modem connection can honestly stick with something that makes himt download hundreds of MB from http.windowsupdate.com (sorry, i meant http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com, say it one more time and I will scream!;-).
Can't wait til they fire up their distributed Spam-Network, that will show them. Wonder who will be left to hold their hands? Muahaha!!
This is not intended as trolling as the other answer someone gave, but why is it then that most apps I use on a daily basis are Gnome apps? I am not a programmer myself but if I compare KDE apps with the GTK based ones I must say that GNOME apps are mostly far superiour. Except for k3b maybe.
Ken Charles Barger, 47, accidentally shot himself to death in December in Newton, N.C. Awakening to the sound of a ringing telephone beside his bed, he reached for the phone but grabbed instead a Smith & Wesson.38 Special, which discharged when he drew it to his ear.
I also liked the T-Shirts. Wow, this could turn into some sort of USP-Trend. Remember "Fairtrade" back in the 80s? Maybe this could start a similar promotion model?

But keep in mind, right now we are rehearsing. If you wanna know when we have something you might want to hear just give me an e-mail acoount I can send them too, one fine day.;-)
as a resurrected guitarist with a new band I was wondering what kind of strings to use nowadays. I used to play Ernie Ball and liked them. Mostly because I was a teenager and they were cheapest at the store around the corner. But now I have a real reason to support them. I will purchase some tomorrow and set them up for our next gig.
I wish to see more companys switching to Linux so I can justify purchasing even more of their products. Some would be: - McDonalds - Toysrus - Marlboro - Becks
Well, I agree. But then again thanks to the "net send" messup the average user clicks away on reflex whatever pops up on his screen: - "I want to secure your box clicke here!" - "I want to help you make Ca$h on the web!" - "I want to enlarge your penis!"
Sigh, noone would trust a real, nice, viruscleaning worm anymore.
What really gives me the creeps is that my comment actually got rated interesting. I really hope I didn't just inspire someone to do something stupid: "Mhmm...holes in DNA...Bullets..mhmm...INTERESTING...";-)
From the article: "We could have programmed it to lose sometimes, to make humans happy," he told New Scientist. "But to say 'the automaton can not be defeated' has a nice ring to it."
Great. Can I quote you after humanity got defeated by DNA-based Uberhumans? But then again, if it's DNA-based we might be able to make holes in it with a bullets, right?
As much as I respect RMS for his concepts and ideals I can't shake the feeling that he's just trying to look smart by pointing to a rather unknown Debian derivate (the only difference being they don't link to closed software).
This is unconfirmed, but I BET that the reason why LinEX has no such links on their homepage is rather laziness than FSF-Ideology. So I can't see why Debian is a wrong decision. He is just beeing smart. RMS keeps forgetting that some people are smart as well and are totally capable of installing Debian WITHOUT any closed software. So, pleeease relax, RMS
thats fun. I wonder why there are no E-cards/pr0n available or something. That could create a new hype for a week or so. Actually, I want a 3D-BSOD.

Using 2.6.pre4 since yesterday. And it was the first build where suspend worked for me, so you might give it a try.

Maybe, but more likely the preemptive patch in kernel 2.6 will. ;-)
