That's kind of ironic... that the announcement of it's "rebirth" - results in it being killed.
It is nice to get back to "grass roots"

When you get right down to it - a core set of UNIX skills would be good for any linux enthusiast... They're portable between distributions - and heck you never know when you are going to be in front of a "linux-like" (that's a "Maddog" quote) operating system like AIX, HP/UX, Solaris or some BSD deriviative...
I took and American Airlines flight recently that had power adaptors... they were car lighter style... but that was cool enough for my laptop accessory bag.:)
As for in flight web-access... I'm sure it will be as reasonably priced as those in-flight phones... right? I'm sure they'll knock the price down to $1 or $2 a minute - or something equally reasonable...:P
I just watched "Space Cowboys" recently - and it was damn funny watching them on the graviton (or whatever the centerfuge thingy is called)... can you image watching normal people on it?
It would actually be pretty scary to see what it would do to the female form though...;)
They're doing full, bi-direcional wireless in test markets now - but they already have uni-directional with a modem for the uplink, which still works well with laptops.
When VCRs were introduced, "they" said that people would stop going to the movie theatre... Nope, people want to "go out" sometimes - a foreign concept to some geeks though.
When e-commerce started up, "they" said that it would take a bite out of "bricks and mortar" commerce... apparently not - at least not yet.
So, now there is napster - and "they" say that it will decrease music sales - apparently not.
Never believe what "they" say - but always listen - you never know, "they" might be right someday.
imagek makes the digital film for your 35mm camera... but alas, it's only 1.3M pixels... but you get to use some really nice cameras as digital cameras then... in the mean-time, there is still my $65 scanner... and it's 4800 dpi...
I have always been disappointed by the resolution of digital cameras... that and how they don't take "standard" 35mm accessories...
I'd love to see a company come out with a digital camera that could take some of the fancier lenses that are available out there... who needs digital zoom when you can have the real thing!?
I remember hearing about a company that did "digital film" for 35mm cameras... but I haven't heard anything about them since... you could take this module and "load" it into a stock 35mm camera and start taking pictures... then when you had to "unload" you just plugged it into your computer and downloaded everything - anyone else remember that?
...then you are stuck and you'll have to sign - perhaps you should talk to a lawyer.
If you are really opposed to this happening - consider it for the future, and look for work elsewhere. It's not the best solution, but no one is forcing you to work for that company.
I haven't actually heard anything too negative towards WAP... am I missing something?
I've used it on my cell phone - and it's cool enough for looking up quick info (stock quotes, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc)... but I don't think I would try and read a/. article on it... unless I was very bored...
Maybe because I like reboot, and I don't (generally) like anime.;)
Reboot has some very awesome graphics for a tv cartoon (these are the same guys that make Transformers beast wars/beasties) and you can even see an improvement from season to season (as they got more bucks for bigger iron...)
If you ever get a chance - go on the Reboot ride film... it's pretty cool - went on it at the Playdium outside of Toronto last year... and it rocks.
My favourite Reboot episode - the one where Big Enzo and Megabyte fight... the best part is when Enzo is down, and MB is running down the dome towards him... your first hint that he's coming is that Enzo's ear-ring starts to jangle... shortly before virbrations start shaking the entire building... It's a great fight scene all around.

"SuSE started in the Linux business by distributing the SoftLanding Systems version of Linux"
I also found this reference to an old Linux Journal article... written by Ian A. Murdock... saying basically SLS was so bad, that he had to do better... and started Debian.

Civil disobedience is one thing - but if you take it to far you may end up being a martyr for your cause.

...or is that just not viable?
Y'know, you'd think that - but everytime I think RAMBUS has died - another story pops up about it...
They must be throwing some big cash bundles at the marketting and legal team to keep the issue alive...

Check out look.ca if you live in Canada...

It's amazing what GOOGLE can find for you:

Everything I said still applies.

When you think about it f*ckedcompany.com being bought in a f*cked way and all...
BTW, my theory has always been that all companies are intrinsicly f*cked in some way... every company I have worked at has been a little f*cked...
I can't tell if the mailer is just a pop/imap front end from the pages though... or is it something "special"...
Either way it looks pretty damn good.
I never thought of it as anime...

I've heard that either Canada doesn't have a 'secret service' - or that they're very good at being secret... ;)

So, I guess that makes SLS my second-favorite distribution.
Yep, he did. Not that I've ever heard of SLS...

:)
And since it's in Canada, tax payer money funded it...
It's good enough for windows clients out in the wild...
IPSEC is better, but I don't know if there is a free client avaiable for Windows.
PoPToP is an open source implementation of PPTP under Linux. I've used it. It's solid. It rocks.
