Even the "Traditional Manufacturing Businesses" aren't employing as many people as before. It all comes down to automation. If you do something routine, simple, and repetitive, you can and will be replaced by a machine.
The Facebook craze has a lot of power behind it. Companies respond primarily to power, and spend millions on their public images, so this is hardly surprising.
It should potentially be regulated because when that private namespace becomes ubiquitous it has much more power than the namespace on your computer, which frustrates just you. For precedences, look at the telephone system, with it's ubiquitous namespace.
Seems even the OPERA people who first ran the test are skeptical, so you're in good company.:) I think everybody is doing a we're not sure what we've got, but SOMETHING is happening, lets figure it out.
My bank, my credit union, and my gf's bank were all open on Saturday. We were able to open two accounts at the CU, and close one bank account. (We didn't move quick enough for the other bank)
According to the developers of Nest, 90% of programmable thermostats aren't programmed properly. Maybe you're in the 10% and wouldn't benefit. That doesn't mean it's not a good product for many of the 90%.
So according to the people with a solution, there's a problem that needs fixing!
I sincerely doubt their numbers. Really it's not that hard, and the last one I bought had a energy star setting system built in. I tweeked it a bit, but I could have installed it, and just left it. Further, anybody whose capable of installing one of these things can program it. Same goes for the wonderthingie, well except I can get a programmable thermostat for $50, while this is 5x the price. Maybe people who can't program a thermostat, or install one can't do math either....
It's not necessary to be something to understand it. The later editions of the book featured an intro by Orson Scott Card where he described all the geniuses that came up to him and said that he had truly gotten it right, and they identified and understood the character very well.
So while Card might not be a genius (or at least an identified one), he seems to understand what it means to be a prodigy, according to other people who are.
It usually old people, and the mentally handicapped. It's not PC to say, but older people are more likely to be easily swayed by robocalls, spam, and junk email. Unfortunately, they don't condone off those phone numbers, so the rest of us get called and bothered too.
For most languages, professional companies use professional services. You are correct that Steam isn't going anything unethical per se, since the deal is clearly laid-out, but it is outside the norm to not pay for translation for commercial software.
How does Jon Stewart get away with this? You'd think that somebody would have silenced him by now.
I wonder if that's the point. The Swiss adopt a position we won't like, get big benies when Uncle Sam twists their arm.

You mean a Black Helicopter like the stealth ones full of Navy Seals that took out Osama Bin Laden? Bet he's wishing it was a myth right now....
Heck, I'd be happy just to see him debate the other candidates!

Yeah, don't members of anonymous wear Guy Fawkes masks or something? I would think it would be easy, just go for the guy in the mask, probably solved!

Mod parent up. There also needs to be some discussion of personal responsibility in all the teeth gnashing, and wailing.
Vote with your feet and your dollars. Starting with pulling your money from all the "Too big to fail" banks, and putting it into a credit union.
MySpace was the same way when FB came along. People switched once, they'll do it again, whether it's for google+ or something else.

It's not over penis size, it's all about profits. If you can't sell your product, I pickup your customers, you make 0 dollars. Far more serious.
Actually Mythbusters showed a while back the urine streams aren't conductive.

Who wins more implies there's a higher winner, and thus a loser, who is getting the worst of the deal.
It's not always lose-win or lose-lose.
Seatbelts, and motorcycle helmets are a couple of good examples.

I shot him in self defense, here's why usually works wonders, assuming it's true and reasonable.
Reason maybe, bad experiences, definitely! :)
Angry much? :)
