Just for the record, I go down to the store and buy a CD. I rip it to mp3. Then I take the CD back to the store. After that, I give out copies of the MP3's to all my friends.
I'm not sure if this is accurate, but most stores stopped allowing returned media(including music, videos, software, etc) except for a direct exchange of a identical media. I guess its to combat piracy.
In his nvidia section he only lists the riva chipset and then jumps to the geforce in the next section. He completely forgot about the rivatnt and the rivatnt2(and all of its related chipsets like the ultra and m64)
the joke is, it dosen't uninstall even when you press uninstall, it still leaves its dlls active in the system, commet cursor does the same damn thing. The only way to get the damn thing out of your system is to use ad-aware or hunt the dlls down yourself (can be difficult sometimes)
The dlls usualy don't bother me if I don't notice them, however the registry entries to start it automaticly still remain. Thats why msconfig is such a great tool. Kazaa installed webhancer even though I unchecked it in installation. After uninstalling it, it still started up when I started up windows. I had to get into msconfig to remove it.
The first level of quake two scared me... that weird doglike thing that hops out of its hole and starts drilling into you...then I respawned because it killed me. But that was definetly the first time a video game did that to me. I didn't even see it coming...
I'll say "Intel sucks, RDRAM bites, DDR rocks and AMD RULES"
I'm on a tbird right now with ddr and I agree that RDRAM bites, but there is a via chipset that allows you to use ddr with a pentium 3. DDR rocks but it isn't amds only.
Call to power isn't one of Sid Meier's civilizations. (Neither is the second one). Thats why both civ 1 and 2 have the titles Sid Meiers' Civilization. They kept the basic idea though, although Sid Meier appears to be doing a much better job with his series.
The original divx(the purchasing system from circuit city, not the video codec) had a similar system. After you bought it, it had a way of not being usable after two days. I'm not sure if it was via the dvd player(logging a id number of the video on the player) or some kind of timestamp on the actual media. Of course, with this book technology you can renew it by paying more, a divx was a one use media. (It never found a market because a special player bought at circuit city was required)
They have this page on their website. It makes a cookie so that the ads will be killed automaticly when they pop-under. (It only lasts 30 days though!)
This is good news for laptops. A lower voltage means a much longer battery life. Also, that would mean there is no need to suspend to the hard drive when moving the laptop around for extended periods of time; it would be stored automaticly if the power supply gets interupted.
Usualy by going to a antivirus site(like symatec or mcafee) you can get fixes for a lot of viruses. They usualy reccomending only downloading from that site, and if you do not get it from their site, to signature verify it. If they don't have a program for it, they will at least have removal instructions.
I remember in an episode where the goal was to build cannons, and one of the teams failed the first two times, then the third time succeeded but still lost due to not hitting the target:-P. Contestants getting 'help'? Maybe. Fixed? I doubt it.
what type of mouse do u use? the reason I might never use them is because I own a mouse with two side buttons for foward & backward while browsing(ms intelimouse optical). I usualy find that the guesture recognition gets in the way of browsing.
I agree, there are some things that do not need gesture recognition. I have never used the gesture recognition in the new opera mainly becuase it is useless. This new technology described in the article would be a lot more practical if a button could be installed on the palm of the hand(touchable with thumb) that temporarily disables the gear while pressed. That way, if something is bothering the operator of the equipment, like an itch, they can hold the button, scratch the itch, then get back to whatever they were previously doing.
p.s.- to the person who said they didnt want a mouse&keyboard for tribes... try the ms sidewinder dual strike. its not that much money and it eliminates use of a mouse&keyboard in fps games
although i agree with u partialy about this not being appropriate for slashdot, u have to remember that this site is not only focused on technology, but how technology affects the world
I don't think xbox will have the first real time lens flares created in the gaming industry. I am pretty sure that serious sam has lens flares too(to some degree)

UPDATE: Via is also making a chipset for the p4 that allows you to use ddr. Here's linkage.
...I think he should just get $1 for each free aol trial cd. $100 can't compesate for being one of the most heard voices in America.
How old are you now?
Oh wait, nevermind..........
I think you must be thinking of doom.
